The everyday practices of small traders and ordinary managers are often overlooked by Management in the construction of a body of management knowledge. For this reason, the objective of this work was to understand the everyday business practice of the catireiros of the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba region. Through a qualitative research, of exploratory character, we interviewed 31 catireiros of this region, and the data collected were analyzed through the Critical Discourse Analysis. We verified that the practices are diverse among the catireiros of the region and that they need to be constantly improved, because the catira requires that one has a continuous learning about the same. In addition, the strategies in the catira are related to the knowledge about the rural market in which catireiros are inserted. Tactics, on the other hand, are those circumstantial operations that depend on the shrewdness of the practitioners in perceiving the opportunities to bargain and take advantage of the negotiations.
This study aims to analyse the role of resilience in the behavior of young workers who suffered moral harassment, from the perspective of professionals from a vocational training association. Thus, a case study is of a descriptive nature and was carried out using a qualitative approach. Interviews were conducted with 21 professionals from this association, whose data underwent content analysis. It should be noted that the research initially aimed to interview the young workers assisted by the association, but direct contact with them was prohibited. It has been noted that moral harassment can be recognised when sudden behavioural changes are observed in young people suffering from this kind of aggression. Changes such as self-isolation, silence, introspection, quietude, or they consider aggression against them as if it were a joke. It has also been noted that young people tend to be resilient against aggression they have suffered in an effort to keep their jobs, whether out of necessity or out of gratitude. Finally, the consequences of moral harassment that affect the personal and professional lives of young people the most are demotivation, impairment of work performance, loss of the pleasure of working, low self-esteem and psychological problems. Therefore, it is important to develop and implement actions against violence in the work environment, and a healthy environment for the workers.
Although negotiation is regarded as one of the most fruitful business activities to address trust and honesty in decision making, studies on this topic are still necessary for the conceptual advancement of the field. This paper aims to analyze the relationships based on trust and honesty among the catireiros based in the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba mesoregions of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in their negotiations. To achieve the proposed goal, we performed qualitative research, with an exploratory approach. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 31 catireiros of the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba regions and analyzed according to the postulates of French Discourse Analysis. We concluded that, on the one hand, honesty and trust are paramount for some catireiros and contribute to the strengthening of their prestige and reputation withing the groups in which they are inserted. In other words, these values operate as a way of legitimizing who those catireiros are and how they negotiate. On the other hand, the catira is also characterized as a potentially opportunistic practice, which may involve mistrust, lies, manipulation, and dishonesty as elements inherent to its process and conditions for traders to obtain advantages in their catiras.
The history of Guaicurus intertwines with the spatial planning of the city, going through an intense process of transformation over the years. Considering this process, this study was developed with the goal of analyzing the spatial dynamics that surround the Guaicurus prostitution zone, through concepts of space, place and territory. To reach this goal, we conducted a descriptive research with a qualitative approach, in which the unit of analysis was the prostitution zone called Guaicurus, in Belo Horizonte (MG). The units of observation were the internal spaces of prostitution hotels and their surroundings, as well as the prostitutes. Data were collected through 27 in-depth interviews with the prostitutes, the application of a projective technique and the photographic documentation of the brothels facades. The data of the interviews were submitted to French discourse analysis. We have been able to notice ambiguities in the social imaginary concerning such space, sometimes a place of prostitution, sometimes a psychical prison, whose chains have been forged by the workers themselves; that is, a form of self-imposed imprisonment. To alleviate the suffering arising from this process, some of the interviewees resignify parts of the room spaces by giving them a cozier, more familiar disposition, necessary for their permanence in prostitution work. Keywords: Space. Place. Territory. Prostitution zone. Guaicurus.
