IntroductionThe aim of the research was to determine the influence degree of a sports and rehabilitation program on perception of quality of life among people with visual impairments.MethodsTheoretical analysis, sociological methods (SF-36, 36-item Short Form Health Survey), pedagogical experiment, mathematical and statistical methods were applied. The research involved 34 people with visual impairments, who were divided into 3 groups, depending on the level of their visual impairment.ResultsIt has been figured out that the perception of quality of life in people with visual impairments depends on the level of their vision loss. Among the blind, the perception is significantly lower (p < 0.05) than with moderate or severe visual impairment. A comparison of the evaluation results (with the SF-36 questionnaire) before and after the experiment allowed to determine the impact of the authors’ program on the perception of quality of life in people with visual impairment.ConclusionsA sports and rehabilitation program for people with visual impairments has been created. The program stipulates the fulfilment of rehabilitation tasks as well as tasks of sports training. It preconditions intensive sports training in the future. The implementation of the sports and rehabilitation program has been proved effective (<i>p</i> < 0.05) for the perception of quality of life in people with visual impairments.
The analysis of scientific and methodological literature shows the fragmentary nature of the available information on the issues of training system for athletes with disabilities in strength sports. The mechanical transfer of unadapt scientific and methodological approaches to the preparation of athletes in the Olympic sport to adaptive sports is observed today. The aim of the research is to identify the peculiarities of composing a training system for athletes with disabilities in strength sports. We involved coaches (n = 54) working in the field of strength sports in the research. The questionnaire was conducted in an open form on the basis of 15 Regional Centers of Physical Culture and Sports for the Disabled "Invasport". Based on the analysis of questionnaire results, the theoretical structure of long-term multiannual preparation of athletes with disabilities in strength sports was developed. In addition, we have determined the recommended quantitative indices of competitive and training activities for athletes in strength sports. It was established that the structure of longterm multiannual preparation should include five stages, the duration of which depends on the level of remained motor abilities of athletes. The necessity of approaches correction is revealed for composing training system for athletes with disabilities in strength sports on the basis of adaptation of the corresponding approaches of general theory to the peculiarities of training athletes with disabilities.
Introduction. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an individualized 12-week water physical therapy program on quality of life parameters in breast cancer survivors. Methods. overall, 68 women met the eligibility criteria and were included in the study. They were randomly allocated for the water physical therapy program (experimental group, n = 34) and Pilates physical therapy program (active control group, n = 34). Both groups attended relevant programs for 12 weeks and received 36 rehabilitation sessions. Quality of life parameters were assessed with the questionnaire of the European organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EoRTC) with a specific module for breast cancer patients (BR-23). Quality of life data were recorded at baseline and after a 12-week intervention. Results. in the results analysis, statistically significant differences between the studied groups were identified. The experimental group participants presented significantly fewer negative symptoms associated with the disease and surgical intervention as a whole. Particularly, fatigue was lower by 10.27 points in the experimental group compared with the active control group (p < 0.05), insomnia was lower by 13.23 points (p < 0.05), appetite loss was smaller by 14.30 points (p < 0.01). Conclusions. The results confirm that a 12-week water physical therapy program effectively improves quality of life parameters, which was reflected in improving general physical condition, shoulder range of motion, emotional and physical functioning, optimism about the future, and a decrease in fatigue, dyspnoea, and insomnia in breast cancer survivors.
Abstract. The paper is dedicated to modern methodical approaches to solve scientific and practical tasks of training process of sportsmen who have mental retardation based on Special Olympics. The aim of systemic training programmes for Special Olympics is to provide the highest possible level of social adaptation for every athlete through the improvement of their physical, technical, tactical, psychological and theoretical efficiency by means of training and competitive activities in their kind(-s) of sport. There is an important scientific and practical issue which is concerned with the research and study of modern methodological problem which solves approaches to the training process of mentally retarded sportsmen according to the programmes of Special Olympiads. According to the requirements of Special Olympics each accredited programme has to offer a comprehensive year-round training sessions that should be supervised by qualified coaches abiding by the rules of Special Olympics and specificity of the event. Every athlete who practices this or that kind of sport must be competitive in this kind of sport. The aim of the paper was to characterize check of sessions as an integral component of sportsmen training system within the framework of Special Olympics programme. Methods and materials. Theoretical methods of analysis, method of comparison, sociological methods of documentary materials analysis and questionnaire, pedagogical methods of educational observation and pedagogical experiment were used in this investigation. Results and conclusions. Analysis of the existing Special Olympics training programmes for the official sports made it possible to elaborate the algorithm of their improvement and renewal. Also some ways for efficient utilization of basic training programmes are presented in article.Analysis of the available training Special Olympics programmes of the official sports allowed us generalizing methodological guidelines found in these information sources. It is an opportunity to create methodological regulations to conduct training sessions. These basic methodological items are as follows: emotional disposition, repeatability, laconic brevity, visualization, individualization, safety, controllability, activity, flexibility, graduality.Prospects for further investigations are associated with the development of training programmes from different kinds of sport for sportsmen with mental retardation based on developed algorithms and described methodical instructions.
