There is currently much interest in phytochemicals as bioactive molecules of food. Functional foods are an emerging field in food science due to their increasing popularity among health conscious consumers. Flaxseed is cultivated in many parts of world for fiber, oil as well as for medicinal purposes and also as nutritional product. In this review, nutrients, anti-nutrients, functional properties, processing, metabolism and health benefits of bioactive molecules viz., essential fatty acids, lignans and dietary fiber of flaxseed are discussed.
Background and Purpose-Pilot studies have suggested benefit from intravenous administration of bone marrow mononuclear stem cells (BMSCs) in stroke. We explored the efficacy and safety of autologous BMSCs in subacute ischemic stroke. Methods-This was a phase II, multicenter, parallel group, randomized trial with blinded outcome assessment that included 120 patients. Patients with subacute ischemic stroke were randomly assigned to the arm that received intravenous infusion of autologous BMSCs or to control arm. Coprimary clinical efficacy outcomes were Barthel Index score and modified Rankin scale at day 180. Secondary outcomes were change in infarct volume, National
We report the fabrication of ultraviolet photodetector on non-polar (11–20), nearly stress free, Gallium Nitride (GaN) film epitaxially grown on r-plane (1–102) sapphire substrate. High crystalline film leads to the formation of two faceted triangular islands like structures on the surface. The fabricated GaN ultraviolet photodetector exhibited a high responsivity of 340 mA/W at 5 V bias at room temperature which is the best performance reported for a-GaN/r-sapphire films. A detectivity of 1.24 × 109 Jones and noise equivalent power of 2.4 × 10−11 WHz−1/2 were also attained. The rise time and decay time of 280 ms and 450 ms have been calculated, respectively, which were the fastest response times reported for non-polar GaN ultraviolet photodetector. Such high performance devices substantiate that non-polar GaN can serve as an excellent photoconductive material for ultraviolet photodetector based applications.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
