Despite current guidelines and decades of evidence on the benefits of a self-management approach, self-management of COPD remains relatively under-utilized in clinical care compared with other chronic diseases. However, self-management interventions can play a valuable role in supporting people with COPD to respond to changing symptoms, and thereby make appropriate decisions regarding the management of their own chronic condition. In this review, we discuss the history and evolution of the concept of self-management, assess current multidisciplinary support programs and clinical interactions designed to optimize self-management, and reflect on how effective these are in terms of clinical and humanistic outcomes. We also evaluate the mechanisms for encouraging change from protocol-based care towards a more personalized care approach, and discuss the role of digital self-management interventions and the importance of addressing health inequalities in COPD treatment, which have been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Reflecting on the importance of self-management in the context of symptom monitoring and provision of educational support, including information from patient organizations and charities, we discuss the ideal components of a self-management plan for COPD and provide six key recommendations for its implementation: 1) better education for healthcare professionals on disease management and consultation skills; 2) new targets and priorities for patient-focused outcomes; 3) skills gap audits to identify barriers to self-management; 4) best practice sharing within primary care networks and ongoing professional development; 5) enhanced initial consultations to establish optimal self-management from the outset; and 6) negotiation and sharing of self-management plans at the point of diagnosis.

Among the conscience of the intrinsic value of the pictorial, it resides a continuum understanding of which is fundamental in the relationships and contradictions of succedaneum poetic acts, and they will be better understood as the better we think as M. Brusatin, in Order to «dedicate ourselves to the painting return». Reminding all that which was symptomatic and repeatedly hidden and deprecated by the draw - «the colour as decorative complement of the narrative allegory of art history», in our interpretation about Storia dei Colori, we follow the painting in its nature-temporal-space, seeing the “colour-image”, the “colour-shadow”, the “flux to light in white-opacity”. We count the intrinsic vitality of bluish life in people’s cultures; listening to it in its deepness, also in the singular profession’s act, as «once upon a time there was a time again, naturally, the once upon the time of being the Painter» as, for instance, Rafael, Kandinsky, Yves Klein, Mark Rothko and Gerhard Richter.
In the last decades, we have witnessed important changes in production processes due to the intensified use of technologies and automation that impact social and environmental activities in society. This is the context in which the Knowledge Workers are inserted. This study aimed to analyze these workers’ competencies and how they contribute to the changes in the organizations, aiming at their sustainable development. The method used was the Systematic Literature Review. Searches were conducted in the Brazilian databases BDTD, CAPES, and SciELO with the terms Knowledge Workers’ competencies; social intelligence; collective intelligence; organizational intelligence, and sustainability in the Portuguese language and published between 2018 and 2022. Three hundred seventy-seven publications were found. With the application of the delimiters: date, title, abstract, and keywords, only 11 were aligned to the research question and were read in full. From this, 3 (three) categories of analysis were generated: social/corporate responsibility, sustainable development, and information management that support the results of this RSL. The final consideration is that the knowledge worker can transform data and information into value-added knowledge. Individual competencies are linked to the company’s values, beliefs, and purpose, which relates to social and organizational intelligence. This work can contribute to public or private organizations forming workers focused on sustainability and the common good.
