Geography has always been seen as a classical subject and rarely been linked to realised socioeconomic development, or community's problem-solving. Since literature is scarce about the role of geography in overcoming challenges, the authors bring forth the role of geography based on a collective students' questions after a class presentation about the role of geography in socioeconomic problems. After carrying the literature review, the authors present to students five cases relevant to poverty elimination which represent the type of problems that geography can help to address. The implication of this study is that it opens a new line of research that optimise the utilisation of geography in solving complex problems, besides improving the way geography is presented pedagogically.
Self-Sufficiency is an undermined subject that has not been given attention since the early days of Socialism and the beginning of Marxism. With the capital-based economy and the rise of globalisation, most countries reached their lowest self-sufficiency level ever with the majority having only 20% capacity to depend on their products. This paper explores why SF is important now during the pandemic and in the New Norma and how these current conditions brought more opportunities for the subject to make people and decision-makers release more from the pros and cons of globalisation. The paper explores how countries and communities could benefit from SF to rebuild more independent communities through optimising concepts as the eco-villages and animal farming that would also encourage the making of sustainable cities. The challenges and the solutions of future food security SF projects establishment are presented as part of the contribution of this paper. Further studies in the area SF during lockdown are recommended to extract the best methodologies of maintaining livelihood while we are fighting for life.

IzvlečekIndikatorji trajnostnega razvoja prikazujejo statistične vrednosti, ki merijo kapaciteto celotnega sistema za zadovoljevanje potreb današnjih in prihodnjih generacij. Indikatorji kažejo stanje in trende, kako se premikamo proti zastavljenim ciljem. So orodje s katerim merimo napredek.
VIEw ON THE INDICATORS -FINGER FOR MEASURES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
AbstractThe indicators of sustainable development show the statistic values that measure the capacity of integral system for contentment of the needs for present and future generations. The indicators show the situation and the guidelines, how we pursue our goals. They are tools for progress measuring. They are meant for different users: the broader public, politicians, professionals, therefore they have to be prepared in a way to represent simplified information, which are relevant for reaching sustainable development.
