Climate change policy in the United States of America is characterized by denial, modest embracement, and, recently, rejection. The fate of climate change legislation since Barack Obama was elected President shows the limits of an alliance of progressive businesses with mainstream
non-governmental organizations. And it confirms the influence of more conservative elements in politics and business to delay or under mine climate-friendly initiatives. With the capture of the House of Representatives by the Republicans in November 2010, the future for action on the national
level is doubtful.
