Studies on effects of social media on crisis communication is scarce. This study sought to bridge this gap in research and provide insights for organizations to use in managing crisis communication today. The data for this preliminary study is based on interviews of public relations professionals and case histories of Malaysia Airlines MH 370 crises. It was found that social media substantially accelerated the need for crisis communication by altering the practice of crisis communication, from how crises is reported and managed by organizations. This study also proposed strategies that organizations can implement to prepare for managing the social media element of a crisis.

Purpose: The implementation of zakat fund management especially in some zakat institutions is considered not optimum yet. This condition is represented by disparity between potential and actual collection. In Islam, the objective of zakat is not only to collect wealth and keep it idle, instead zakat should become a source of productive fund to fulfill societal needs. Some countries with advanced zakat institutions have developed zakat to become a pillar of economic development. Today, each zakat institution is competing against each other to innovate in zakat fund management. Empowerment in zakat institutions with the appropriate strategies will enhance zakat management and distribution for the betterment of zakat recipients (mustahiq) and the Muslim society at large. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research is aimed to analyze optimization of management in regional zakat institution with SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat) analysis approach with IFE-EFE Matrix. Descriptive qualitative analysis is used to explain optimization of fund in zakat institution. Major Findings:Findings of this research shows that zakat institution should improve their strategy by developing strength and turning threat into opportunities. Originality/Value: The study provides a guideline for regional zakat institution on how they can enhance their role and efficiency to boost the economic growth for the Islamic community in Indonesia. It may also be instrumental for the government to improve in efficiency and innovative manpower, considerable research and development in optimizing Islamic Gift Economy to enhance economic growth of the Islamic community of Indonesia.

The utilization of Islamic social finance instruments is far behind what is expected. To realize its full potential, Islamic social finance instruments must be integrated. This study examined solutions and priority strategies for integrating sustainable Islamic social finance that could be implemented in the short and long term using the Benefit, Opportunity, Cost, and Risk (BOCR) framework, which includes six aspects: Governance, sustainable financing, institutional aspect, human resources, regulations, and supporting technology. This qualitative research employed the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method using the benefit, opportunity, cost, and risk analysis. The data were obtained mainly through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with respondents among academics, practitioners, associations, regulators, and community leaders. The respondents were selected for their expertise and experience in the selected topic. The data were processed using the Microsoft Excel and Super Decision software. There are several findings worth considering from the analysis. First, the highest priority in integrating Islamic social finance aspects are human resources (0.97), regulation (0.86), and technology (0.76). Second, based on the short- and long-term analysis, financial integration through sustainable financing (0.01 and 1.44, respectively) and improving human resource quality through certification and training (0.01 and 1.56, respectively) is a priority solution and strategy to integrate sustainable Islamic social finance. Meanwhile, according to expert judgments, integrating national data (0.24) and optimizing technology use (0.18) are priority solutions and strategies. The findings emphasize the critical role of improving human resource quality to utilize technology, with experts identifying a national data integration as the most critical solution. As a result, relevant stakeholders are concerned about technology management training for Islamic philanthropic managers, with the goal of maximizing the potential of technology’s growing role and adoption.

Purpose:The general objective of this study is to explore the potential of Islamic Gift Economy in relation to sustainable development at the local level. This paper is therefore, highlights conceptually some preliminary insights on how the Sustainable Development (SD) and the Islamic Economy can be incorporated into a broader sustainability framework involving the three pillars of economic, social and environmental (ESE) sustainability.Methodology: This paper is abouta preliminary conceptual exploration into the meaning, and potential of Islamic Gift Economy in enhancing sustainable development at the local level. Main findings:The central argument of this article revolves around the idea that Islamic Gift Economy with its focus on social justice ('adl), balance (mizan), and common good (maslahaha'mmah)can be an alternative economic paradigm and development model in this post-capitalist development agenda. Application of the study:This study may be beneficial to policy makers from national to local/community level on how to enhance local/village economy through Islamic Gift Economy.Novelty/Originality of the study: This paper intends to propose an integral framework on the relationship between IGE and sustainable development at the local level. Theoretical and policy implications, and opportunities for future research were also highlighted.
