Research on the infection of snails by trematodes has been conducted in Europe for over a hundred years. The initial poor knowledge of the intra-molluscan stages of these parasites together with the difficulty of classifying them constituted a serious obstacle to the undertaking of integrated parasitological and malacological efforts to gain a better understanding of the phenomenon. The compilation of morphological and anatomical results of research on trematode larvae resulted in the publication of keys to designate species of parasites, but was not sufficient to encourage malacologists to collaborate with parasitologists. This paper undertakes to collect data published over the last hundred years on the natural infection of European populations of freshwater snails by trematode larvae. The aim of this undertaking is to make researchers of malacofauna and, above all, experts on freshwater snails aware of the scale of the problem of molluscs being exploited as intermediate hosts of trematodes and, consequently, to encourage parasitologists and malacologists to collaborate on this phenomenon that is crucial for both parasites and hosts.
This paper is a hermeneutic analysis of selected academic publications. This paper examines a number of issues related to undertaking social roles by adults with disabilities and the problem of their postponed transition to adulthood, restricting or delaying developmental tasks typical of adulthood, which has negative implications and may exacerbate disability. Support provided by various entities and institutions may reduce existing barriers and enhance their social integration. Both positive and negative effects of using social support by people with disabilities have been pointed out. Sources of social support have been listed along with their specifics. The analysis included the disabled person's gender, as it determines the nature of support and its reception. Finally, the need for personalised support was emphasised along with risks resulting from institutional discrimination. The role of local community was highlighted as it corresponds to the concept of community-based support and the need to promote various initiatives aimed at integration and normalisation of life for people with disabilities.
This article aims to present the characteristics of sex education in selected European countries. Particular attention should be paid to the need for compulsory and diligently conducted sexual education of young people as a preventive measure and a factor providing objective scientific truth. Normative systems and set of beliefs often create social taboos about sexuality. Based on the analysis of scientific sources published in Polish, French and English, this article also shows the essence of sex education in schools, as a way for young people to make the right choices, reduce the occurrence of risky behaviors and protect against and prevent sexually transmitted diseases, unplanned pregnancy and sexual violence. Acquiring true and consistent with the current state of knowledge information on the human sexual sphere should be carried out throughout life. Conducting professional sex education classes at school would be an opportunity for all students to have equal access to information on this subject. Both for those who talk to their parents and those for whom it is a taboo. The presented effects of the lack of sexual education in schools show that its reliable and professional implementation is a means of providing help to young people and their families. However, in order to change the approach of parents and students to attending classes in this subject, it is necessary to improve the quality of teaching in this subject and to make some changes to the curriculum.
