The Malay version of the WHOQOL-BREF was published approximately 15 years ago. Since then, no known research has been conducted to identify the psychometric properties of the scale using confirmatory factor analysis. This study aimed to establish a model by applying a scientific approach to the translation and adaptation method. The back translation technique was used for the translation process. This cross-sectional study involved 282 employees at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The instrument received satisfactory Cronbach’s alpha reliability values. The data were analysed with SEM using AMOS. Results showed that the model produced is parsimonious, with CMIN/df = 0.23, CFI = 0.93, SRMR = 0.08, RMSEA = 0.08 and PCLOSE = 0.07. Adopting the Malay version of the WHOQOL-BREF for future research is highly recommended due to its properties.
The current ethical and social dilemma experienced by each country globally has become more challenging. The increase in the case of fraud, malpractice and corruption among civil servants mainly is worrying globally as well as locally. Malaysia as a developing country is also no exception from this problem. Social moral problems recently grow rapidly and become more chronic regardless the age, race or religion. The writing of qualitative concept paper with analysis content method attempts to obtain an answer to the question of integrity, value among the community by introducing numerous of policy and inculcation of Islamic Value campaign since a decade ago. Therefore, this paper aims to analyse plans introduced by the government to overcome it and to what extends it give impacts on the integrity and value among the community and civil servants. The findings indicate all the campaigns, policies introduced have not affected the civil servants especially in their involvement in performing corruption acts and malpractice. It is hoped that a comprehensive and accurate plan can be introduced and implemented to all in the effort to form Malaysia as a country of zero corruption and malpractice.
The aim of this study was to validate the Short Multidimensional Inventory Lifestyle Evaluation-Confinement (SMILE-C) in a Malaysian context. The SMILE-C, which is a respondent-generated instrument, was used to ask participants questions on their lifestyle during the COVID-19 pandemic. The indices of seven sub-scores were then calculated. A total of 121 university staff members completed the Malay version of the SMILE-C as well as instruments for measuring well-being, family life satisfaction, mindfulness and awareness, work engagement, and quality of life. The Cronbach’s alpha values and Pearson correlation coefficients were satisfactory in this initial validation of the instrument. The SMILE-C showed positive correlations with all the variables being studied. The results supported the criterion-related validity and psychometric properties of the Malay version of the SMILE-C as an instrument for assessing lifestyle changes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Malaysia which is known as a country with multi-ethnic and multi-religious society who live coexist in relative harmony. Unfortunately, the harmony and prosperity of Malaysia was torn because of the greediness and misbehaviour among the people in the country. This malpractice, misconduct and corruption happened every day and everywhere. This actions and behaviours not only happened among the people from the lowest position but it also involved the people in the highest status and level whether in the big firm, well-known companies and even in the cabinet as well. Therefore, the writing of qualitative concept paper with analysis content method attempts to analyse how amanah (trustworthiness) practice can contribute to counter the problems of malpractice among Malaysian by implementing the Appreciative Inquires Theory (AI). The finding showed by indicate the theory can help in combatting these problems. It is hoped that this method will be a comprehensive and accurate method which can be introduced and implemented to all in the effort to form Malaysia as a country of zero corruption and malpractice.
