The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on various aspects of life. One of them is in the education aspect, the government establishes a School From Home (SFH) policy or school from home so that learning activities are carried out using online media. In addition to learning activities, training activities in the form of workshops also do not escape the online atmosphere. This activity was held to increase the enthusiasm for learning English during the pandemic, using the Zoom media which is devoted to daily activities. This training was attended by high school/vocational high school students in Palembang City and students from severaluniversities in South Sumatra Province. This activity succeeded in making the activity participants able to convey daily activities in English properly and correctly, then in this activity, the participants gained a depth of knowledge on how to use good grammar in learning English.
English is an international language in Indonesia. It is important for students to master English because of its very central role in every aspect of this country. SMA and SMK students in Palembang City should prepare more seriously for their English language skills to face a better future. The English they study will have a very significant effect when they continue their education to tertiary level or enter the world of work. In this activity, the Darussalam Polytechnic lecturers, especially the lecturers for the English course, provided very important information for students in Palembang City to be successful in mastering English. This activity was carried out through a Zoom meeting with 40 participants consisting of high school and vocational students in Palembang City. This activity was carried out for 1 day on September 4 2022
Bu zz Group Tehcnique are a technique in teaching which divide students into a group activity in which groups of students have a brief discussion (for examp le, five minutes) to generate ideas or answer specific questions. Buzz group can be used in many different ways and are most often used in combination with other techniques". In this research the writer will co mbined two kinds of technique, Gu ided-question Co mbined with Buzz Group Technique. Gu ided -question Combined with Buzz Group Technique means combine two kinds of technique in teaching learning process those are Gu ided-question with Bu zz Group Technique to enhance both techniques. The research design used in this study was one-group pre test-post test design. The study emp loyed both quantitative and qualitative data analyses fro m pre -and post-tests, a questionnaire, and an interview. The participants of the study were 35 first-year students enrolling in a co mpulsory reading course called Co mmunicat ion and Reading Skills at Darussalam Polytechnic of Palembang. It is shown shown by a significant difference in quality of students" in-class written experimental designs between the treatment and control groups (19.943 versus 17.943; p>0.0489). However, draft (22.337 versus 18.929; p>0.0760) and paper grades (27.186 versus 27.971; p>0.6726) did not vary significantly whether or not students were provided with the guided questions. There were several intervening and potentially confounding factors, due to the nature of the paper writ ing process in our labs, wh ich included p eer review of paper drafts that were not limited to students within the treat ment and control groups.. The results suggested that 1) The English writing ability post test mean score of students was higher than the pre test mean score at the 0.05 level of s ignificance; 2) most students were satisfied with their own writing ability; 3) they enjoyed working in group and agreed that mind mapping technique was a useful technique and can be applied to non-English subjects. Findings and implications for further research are discussion.
The purpose of this training is to provide valuable experience as well as useful knowledge for Darussalam Polytechnic students. The table manners activity is the main provision for students when they have finished studying at the Darussalam Polytechnic. The participants of this training were 108 students from all majors in Darussalam Polytechnic. This training was held at Fave Hotel Palembang on March 31, 2022. The speakers in this training were lecturers from the Travel Business Department who were competent in the field of hospitality and tourism. In this training, it is emphasized how to use good etiquette in eating. Eating etiquette which is manners at banquets. Dining etiquette at the dining table is quite simple, but there are some things that can be learned in how to sit up straight and don't lean on the back of the chair, and don't put your elbows on the dining table and use a napkin on your lap. Banquets are not just how to put food in the mouth, but are related to certain eating etiquette that can show a person's personality. Manners at the dinner table really need to be learned by Darussalam Polytechnic students so that they can have skills in good eating procedures at the dinner table, starting with how to proceed at the dinner table by doing table manners training.
