Tests of steel pipe coatings, while not haphazard in method, are not and can not always be accurate. The ideal pipe test should provide quantitative information about coating performance and condition of coating, and should be expressed numerically.
The discovery of moderate to severe corrosion problems in the stressing tendons of concrete distribution and sludge‐digesting tanks, some of them relatively young, the steps taken to repair all but one of them successfully, and the changes in design and construction necessary to obviate such problems, are the subjects of this article.
