Effective teaching of English language to EFL learners has always been an important issue. There has been continuous efforts to find and adapt teaching methods and styles which suit learners' context, needs, and interest. This paper tries to devise a lesson for Kurdish young learners of grade six in a primary school in Kurdistan Region through integrating Task Based Learning aspects with the characteristics of Storytelling Method. Efficacious language learning approaches prioritise enhancing learners' communicative performance over teaching complex grammatical structures in the early stage of learning a foreign language. Similarly, Task Based Language Learning approach aims to develop learners' communicative competence via engaging them in authentic language activities and tasks. Storytelling technique on the other hand, can create an energetic, friendly ambiance in which learners are enthusiastically immersed in the lesson. They speak more confidently and are less afraid of making mistakes. The technique adapted, is new and novel in Kurdistan region's basic schools however, it falls within the scope of Communicative Teaching Approach which has recently become the popular approach for teaching English Language in basic schools of the region in the last few years.
Kurdish is an agglutinative language, so that subject and object might appear as a dependent morpheme, and sometimes they would become a zero morpheme and disappear in sentence, but still they have obvious meaning. Kurdish speaker can distinguish between the meanings of sentences that consist in same word, but have different gist, because of rhythm. However, it becomes more challenging in writing and grammatical analyzes. Moreover, this complexity is advance more in complex sentences, which is concentrated on in this article. There are various classifications for Kurdish subordinate clause in terms of semantic. They highlighted the meaning of sentences. So that the categorizations are different with each other, and each linguist shows its opinion due to the fact that meaning is tricky itself, and would change easily with context. To be more accurate, in this study, Kurdish subordinate clause will be classified in terms of syntax, which is static. Keywords: Kurdish grammar, lexical clauses, simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence Kurte Kurdî zmanêkî lkawye, leber ewe bker w berkar lewaneye wek morfîmî yarîdeder le risteda derbkewn, tenanet hendêkcar debne morfîmî sifr w dernakewn, legel eweşda hestyan pê dekrêt le ruî manawe. The current study investigates foreign language anxiety among Kurdish EFL students and its consequences on their communicative performance. An investigative quantitative approach was used to conduct this study. A Total number of two hundred (200) EFL learners with different language proficiency levels from three different universities; University of Halabja and Sulaimani university in Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and University of Kurdistan in Iran, were selected to participate in this study. For the purpose of obtaining necessary information and data, a face-to-face assessment, in small groups of 4 was conducted during students’ class time in which their communicative performance based on accuracy, fluency, vocabulary, and pronunciation was evaluated and recorded. Additionally, Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) questionnaire was adapted and the target population were requested to respond to the statements presented in the questionnaire. The findings of the research taken from a structural equation modelling (SEM) indicated that all components of Communicative Performance were in a negative and significant correlation with anxiety.
