EXAMINATION OF THE GENERAL SELF-EFFICACY OF CANDIDATES WHO TOOK THE SPECIAL ABILITY EXAM ACCORDING TO SOME VARIABLES ABSTRACT Original ArticleThe purpose of this study was to examine according to some variables the general self-efficacy of the candidates who took the special ability exam of the Physical Education and Sports Department. This study population consisted of 1395 candidates, selected by random sampling, and 705 volunteers who were taking the special ability exam of the Erciyes University Physical Education and Sports Department. The following data were collected: general self-efficacy and information from the Personal Information Form. The statistical analyses were done with the SPSS 20.0 program. Information related to candidates and the total inventory points were used to determine frequency (f) and percentage (%) values. The Mann-Whitney U test was applied to identify the relationship between the scores obtained from the scales and gender and branches; the KruskalWallis test was used to evaluate age, region, YGS point and area the data. As a result; When examining the general self-efficacy levels of candidates entering the special skills examinations; Gender, age, YGS score, branch and the place where they live, there was no statistical difference, whereas there were statistically significant differences according to the fields.Article Info
This study aimed to analyze ego identity status of the candidates who studied in school of physical education and sports. For this purpose, randomly selected 651 individuals, who attended to Kayseri Erciyes University, school of physical education and sports, were included to this study. In this research, Extended Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status scale that was developed by Marcia [1] and adapted to Turkish by Oskay [2] was used to determine volunteers' identity status. Data obtained from personal information form, ego identity status scale was analyzed with SPSS 20.0 package program. For the distribution of the obtained data, Kolmogrov Smirnov test statistics were used and parametric tests were conducted for statistical analyses. Personal information related to candidates was given as scale total scores and frequency (f) and percentage (%) values were determined. To eliminate the differences between the scores obtained from scales, Independent t test was used for gender variable while One Way Anova test was used for age, mother and father education levels, placing scores of candidates to their departments and higher education variables. As a result, meaningful difference was found between students' ego identity status and their age, education departments, mother education level and placing score to higher education while a meaningful difference was not found between students' ego identity status and gender and father education level. It was thought that students' ego identity status differentiated due to increase in student ages and different interactions of the education departments.
The purpose of this research was to examine the level of human rights attitudes in sports and authenticity of professional football (soccer) athletes. They belonged to the Super League, 1st League, 2nd League or 3rd League teams. 1912 were randomly selected from 674 players actively playing. This researcher created a socio-demographic information form, the authenticity scale, which was validated by Akın and Dönmezoğulları (2012). The players also filled out the Human Rights Attitude in Sports Scale, validated by Sadık (2014). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test statistic was used for the distribution of obtained data and parametric tests were used for statistical analysis. Personal information about the candidates was determined by the scale total scores and frequency (f) and percent (%) values. The one-way ANOVA test was used to compare the scores obtained from the scales according to age, sports age, league, position, and educational status. The LSD statistic was used in post-hoc tests to determine the source of differences. The results showed that the football players' attitudes t...
The present study aimed to examine the effect of mindful attention awareness on ruminative thought styles levels of physical education and sports teacher candidates. 183 students studying in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching at Bingol University voluntarily participated in the study. Mindful attention awareness and ruminative thought style scale were used as data collection. The scales were applied to students by face-to-face survey method. SPSS package program was used to analyze of the data. Pearson Correlation and Linear Regression analyses were applied for the statistical analyses. As a result, it was found that there was a positive and low-level relationship between mindful attention awareness and ruminative thought styles while mindful attention awareness slightly affected ruminative thought styles. In this context, it can be said that the students do not lose command over past or future events in their lives and act by experiencing the present moment.
