A clinical decision report using Gu P, Lew D, Jung OS, et al. Comparing the Real-World Effectiveness of Competing Colonoscopy Preparations: Results of a Prospective Trial. Am J Gastroenterol. 2019;114(2):305-314. https://doi.org/10.14309/ajg.0000000000000057 for a patient reluctant to undergo colonoscopy screening due to concerns about GoLYTLEY's tolerability.
Resistance to third generation cephalosporins was statistically significantly higher in N-SBP compared to HA-SBP (RR52.02, p50.003, CI 1.26-3.22, I2554%) and CA-SBP (RR53.96, p, 0.00001, CI52.50-3.60, I2552%) and also between HA-SBP and CA-SBP (RR52.25,p50.002, CI51.33-3.81, I250%). (Figure ) Conclusion: Our meta-analysis demonstrated that mortality rate is higher in N-SBP compared to HA-SBP and N-SBP compared to CA-SBP. Third generation cephalosporin resistance is considerably higher in N-SBP and HA-SBP compared to CA-SBP. Lower threshold to start broad spectrum antibiotics with targeted therapy guided through culture data should be undertaken for appropriate treatment of SBP and to improve mortality in N-SBP and HA-SBP.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
