Summary: Introduction: The aim of this study was to determinethe skeletal age measurement (stages of skeletal maturity) of African continental ancestry (AfroColombians) in boys and girls from 8 to 14 years of Puerto Tejada, Cauca. Material and Methods: thiscross-sectional study examined X-rays of both hands and wrists obtained from 80 boys and girls usingBjörks analysis to evaluate the stage of skeletal maturity. Results: 50% of participants were malegender. 57% of the sample was found with late mixed dentition. According to stage of osseousmaturity, 36.7% of subjects were classified in PP2 (equal width of diaphysis and epiphyses of theproximal phalanx of index finger); 18.2% in MP3 (diaphysis and epiphyses with the same width of thesecond half phalanx of finger). The more maturity stage reached by boys was MP3cap while girlsshowed the highest stage of development Ru, which is complete growth. Conclusions: There aredifferences in the level of maturation according to the gender and race, observing that the AfroColombian girls mature faster than boys. These differences must be considered during diagnosis andtreatment planning in maxillary orthopedic, orthodontics and general medicine. Key words: Agedetermination by skeleton. Los MOOC son una herramienta muy potente de aprendizaje, ya que son cursos abiertos y, en la mayoría de los casos, se pueden tomar al ritmo del alumnado, por lo que son idóneos para personas con una vida ocupada. Además, tienen un alcance amplio, ya que pueden formar a miles de personas al mismo tiempo, y con un costo bajo por participante. Sin embargo, los MOOC también tienen ciertas limitaciones, como son la necesidad de dispositivos adecuados; acceso a internet de calidad; o el acceso limitado a las certificaciones, que suelen ser pagadas. Otro de los grandes desafíos que nos encontramos en los MOOC es que, al ser abiertos y de inscripción gratuita, un alto porcentaje de los participantes inscritos no realizan el curso.
