Plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition was used to deposit thin films of Ga2O3 on to c-plane sapphire substrates using triethylgallium and O2 plasma. The influence of substrate temperature and plasma processing parameters on the resultant crystallinity and optical properties of the Ga2O3 films were investigated. The deposition temperature was found to have a significant effect on the film crystallinity. At temperatures below 200°C amorphous Ga2O3 films were deposited. Between 250°C and 350°C the films became predominantly α-Ga2O3. Above 350°C the deposited films showed a mixture of α-Ga2O3 and ε-Ga2O3 phases. Plasma power and O2 flow rate were observed to have less influence over the resultant phases present in the films. However, both parameters could be tuned to alter the strain of the film. Ultraviolet transmittance measurements on the Ga2O3 films showed that the bandgaps ranges from 5.0 eV to 5.2 eV with the largest bandgap of 5.2 eV occurring for the α-Ga2O3 phase deposited at 250°C.
Halide perovskites hold exceptional promise as cheap, low temperature solution-processed optoelectronic materials. Yet they are hindered by poor structural and chemical stability, rapidly degrading when exposed to moisture or air. We demonstrate a solution-phase method for infiltrating methylammonium lead bromide perovskite (CH3NH3PbBr3, or MAPbBr3) into nanoporous GaN which preserved the green photoluminescence of the perovskite after up to 1 year of storage under ambient conditions. Besides a protective effect, confinement within the porous GaN matrix also resulted in a blueshift of the perovskite emission with decreasing pore size, suggesting an additional templating effect of the pores on the size of the perovskite crystals within. We anticipate that our method may be generalised to related perovskite materials, offering a route to producing composites of interest for use in optoelectronic devices for various applications.
Purpose: Patients with HER2-positive (HER2+) metastatic breast cancer (MBC) have poor prognoses. Pyrotinib has shown promising antitumor activity in MBC patients to improve progression-free survival (PFS). However, findings based on real-world data to analyze whether pyrotinib affects overall survival (OS) remain scarce.
Experimental design:This real-world study is an exploratory analysis of brain metastasis (BM) and the final update of our preceding study of 168 patients with HER2+ MBC. PFS, OS, tumor mutation burden (TMB), clinical benefit rate (CBR) and overall response rate (ORR) were analyzed. Results: Pyrotinib treatment led to a median PFS time of 8.00 months and a median OS of 19.07 months in the 168 participants. High TMB was associated with poor OS (P = 0.0072) and PFS (P = 0.0028). In the 39 patients with BM, the median PFS and OS were 8.67 and 13.93 months, respectively. The surgery/radiation (S/R) group of patients with BM had prolonged survival (PFS: 9.97 vs. 7.73 months P = 0.19; OS: 20.67 vs. 12.43 months P = 0.021) compared with the no surgery/no radiation group (NS/NR). The CBR was 58.6% (S/R) vs. 41.4% (NS/NR), while the ORR was 24.1% (S/R) vs. 31.0% (NS/NR).
Conclusion:Pyrotinib shows promise as a novel pan-HER2 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) for the treatment of BM and should be evaluated further. Surgical or radiotherapy in combination with pyrotinib was found to statistically improve OS in our cohort. TMB could be an exploratory biomarker for predicting PFS and OS, but its clinical application still needs further verification.
Single-walled carbon nanotubes of an average diameter of 1 nm are produced in premixed laminar rich H 2 /air flames. • Temperatures and stoichiometries of the surrounding gases are key to successful CNT synthesis. • CNTs form as nanometre-thick fibrelets connecting the surrounding Fe 3 O 4 nanocrystals.
Although the solid-state lighting industry has achieved huge successes in both red and blue part of the visible spectrum during the last 40 years, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that emit green light consistently exhibit inferior efficiencies. Thanks to the use of down-conversion phosphors, white LEDs have been commercialised without using green LEDs. However, the efficiency problem of green LEDs still hinders many potential applications of solid-state lighting and limits the overall system efficiency. This review first attempts to conclude and comment on the complex factors that limit the performance of green LEDs with recent research progresses. Then the article focuses on reviewing various strategies to improve green light LED radiative recombination efficiencies. This review was chosen as a runner up of the 2018 Materials Literature Review Prize of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, run by the Editorial Board of MST.
