Kompetencje społeczne to jeden z najważniejszych aspektów funkcjonowania jednostki w otaczającym świecie. Są one na tyle ważne, iż stały się – obok wiedzy i umiejętności – jednym z efektów kształcenia akademickiego. Poziom tych kompetencji uzależniony jest od uwarunkowań wewnętrznych jednostki, ale także od czynników środowiskowych. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników badań dotyczących osiągniętego poziomu kompetencji społecznych studentów w trakcie edukacji akademickiej na kierunku turystyka i rekreacja. Aby zdiagnozować założony cel, wykorzystano ilościowe i jakościowe metody badań. Na ich podstawie ustalono, iż poziom kompetencji społecznych studentów biorących udział w badaniu jest przeciętny, pomimo że nauczyciele akademiccy deklarują realizację efektów kształcenia w tym zakresie.
Purpose. Development of own professional potential allows to enter the labour market efficiently and prosper in the professional sphere. The objective of this article is to present the results of studies diagnosing the competences and qualifications of students completing the Tourism and Recreation major at the level of Master’s studies. Method. The study makes use of qualitative methods such as biographical interview, analysis of professional CVs of examined students and own research tool, i.e. “Professional Self-Evaluation Sheet for Students”. Findings. Thanks to the conducted studies, professional potential of previous year M.A. students of the Tourism and Recreation major was assessed in the area of industry-specific knowledge, knowledge of foreign languages, booking programmes, completed courses and training, job seniority, possessed professional skills, etc. Research and conclusion Limitations. A pilot in nature; therefore; it encompasses a relatively small group of subjects (73 persons). Practical implications. The study presents self-creation activities of the students of Tourism and Recreation in the professional sphere and their opinions concerning utility of the curriculum offered to them. Originality. The presented article is one of very few scientific studies of this type which diagnose the professional potential of students of Tourism and Recreation at the stage of entry into the labour market. Type of work. The article presents the results of empirical research.
Purpose. The main objective of the article is to diagnose the job market from the point of view ofsupply and demand for travel guide and tour leader services as well as to establish the dominant forms of employment, intensity of orders, forms of job search, status of employers as well as the amount of earnings.
Method. In the research, the method of diagnostic survey was used; the questionnaire was supplied to the respondents via the Internet, with the option of filling it out on-line (CAWI) as well as by conducting telephone interviews with employers (CATI).
Findings. The study proved that the travel guide and tour leader job market is unstable due to its seasonal nature, relatively low earnings and a constantly changing economic situation. The deregulation of occupations did not lead to a change in principles of cooperation between on the one hand, the tour operators one the one hand and the travel guides and tour leaders on the other; it did not exert influence on the costs of their employment or on the prices of tourist services.
Research and conclusions limitations. The research was conducted on a representative sample of tourist guides and tour leaders as well as tour operators.
Practical implications. The results of research may be of use to tour operators, organisations grouping travel guides and tour leaders as well as tourist administrations at central and regional levels.
Originality. A complex study of the tourist guide and tour leader job market is innovative and has never been conducted on such a scale in Poland.
Type of paper. The article presents the results of empirical research on the supply and demand of urban, field and mountain guides as well as tour leaders.
