Cl 744, an experimental dissociative anesthetic,
is a mixture consisting of the phencyclidine derivative Tiletamine
Hydrochloride (Cl 634) and Flupyrazapon (Cl 716),
an agent having minor tranquilizing properties. The intramuscular
administration of Cl 744 at a dose of 3 mgs/kg of
body weight produces smooth induction without excitement
within 2-3 minutes. Excellent muscular relaxation is evident in monkeys anesthetized
with Cl 744 with no nystagmus or athetoid movements apparent. Palpebral and pharyngeal
reflexes are maintained while surgical anesthesia is maintained for approximately
45 minutes with a single injection. Cl 744 is a very promising anesthetic for use in
M. mulatta.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
