The demands and challenges currently presented by the labour market in the engineering and architecture areas require future professionals to have a more practical and critical training in order to facilitate problem solving. Thus, it is evident that the traditional methodologies used in these courses need to be modified to enable adequate training beyond theoretical knowledge in the area, such as oral communication, teamwork and group leadership, among others. Project Based Learning (PBL) teaching provides interdisciplinary experiences for students with the aim of strengthening these attitudes, involving students with decision-making projects similar to those experienced in professional life. The objective of this work is to show the experiences of the students of the Federal University of Santa Maria - Campus Cachoeira do Sul in the application of this innovative teaching methodology. As main results, the students developed academic tasks related to real case studies in the scientific-technical area, with the presentation of their work to specialists, report delivery and prototype development. The application of the methodology became satisfactory and motivating, since it stimulated teamwork, integration of engineering and architecture areas, exchange of experiences between students and teachers and integration with the community.
A sociedade caminha rumo a uma nova percepção relacionada ao consumo dos recursos naturais existentes. Por esse motivo é que foram criadas as normas internacionais de qualidade ambiental, que servem de referência para empresas que buscam atender esse perfil de consumidor. Os impactos ambientais causados por um edifício são muitos. Assim, o objetivo desse trabalho é apresentar uma proposta de um edifício sustentável. E, a partir da certificação Leadership in Energy and Environmental Desing -LEED, avaliar o projeto identificando o nível de certificação que ele obteria, demonstrando as características que são necessárias para atribuir ao edifício a qualidade de sustentável. Essa pesquisa é qualitativa, sendo o estudo de caso o método mais adequado. Quanto aos fins, pode ser classificada como um estudo exploratório. O projeto fora avaliado por meio das condições do sistema e, de acordo com as características que o edifício apresentou, a pontuação que ele obteve varia de 39 á 51 pontos o que representa o nível de certificação Ouro. A estratégia de gestão ambiental empregada no projeto do edifício foi proposta de forma a oferecer resposta às diferentes esferas da sustentabilidade.Palavras-chave: Arquitetura sustentável, certificação LEED, qualidade na construção civil. ResumoSociety moves towards a new perception related to the consumption of natural resources. In this context, the international environmental quality standards were established. They serve as reference for companies seeking to meet this new consumer profile. The environmental impacts caused by a building are numerous. The objective of this paper is to present a proposal for a sustainable building. From the certification Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design -LEED, evaluates the project by identifying the level of certification that it would get through the categories and subcategories of the system, demonstrating the characteristics that are necessary to attribute to the quality of sustainable building. This exploratory research is qualitative per a case study methodology. The project was evaluated by means of system conditions and in accordance with the characteristics that the building had. The point system has scores that range from 39 to 51 points, representing the Gold certification level.
