Along with the rapid development of technology, local wisdom tends to run into marginalization so that it is completely lost (Choesin, 2002 cited in Rasna&Tantra, 2017). The local wisdom should be able to become a milestone in the community in order to preserve the cultural heritage and the natural resources. Meanwhile, a transformation towards sustainability is urgently needed for our planet, and every other living thing on it including the resources it provides. Therefore, this study aims at exploring the local wisdoms that still exist and develops at several springs in Singosari Malang. Locations were chosen based on the profile of the springs which still have good management based on the local wisdom that are passed on through generations. The springs include Sumber Biru and Sumber Nagan in Gunungrejo village, Singosari District Malang. The research approach used is ethnographic research. Interviews, focused discussions, and documentation were the techniques used to collect the data. The result is descriptively presented in a form of a history of the springs which is retold in the form of short story.
Life safety has to be prior objective due to TODs tall buildings increment, for instance, mixed-use tower or integrated superblock estate, may cause fire accident. Refuge floor provision often met spatial issues according to define its configuration. Refuge floors are more relevant to the RSET factor because of the objectives. This study focused on identification of affecting factor using refuge floors with help of RSET factor from certain relevant three case studies of TODs tall buildings increment. The highlighted findings from certain case study plays important role to clarify the RSET factor on using refuge floor. Building height shows significant utility for refuge floor occupancies in accordance to refuge due to density control inside vertical egress.
Urbanization is increasing the need for and building sites and vertical housing. Changes in residential typology cause changes in housing preferences and meanings. This study aims to reveal the dimensions of residential meanings — the study conducted in two stages with a sequential mix-method. The first stage is qualitative research using an explorative grounded theory approach. The categories and variables identified in the first stage of the research are used in the second phase of research quantitatively using the correlational research approach. The data collected were analyzed by factor analysis to reveal the dimensions of residential meaning — the dimensions of the revealed mapping distinguished by the type of occupancy, namely site, and vertical dwelling. The vertical house tends to be perceived as having more social and physiological significance, personalization, tranquility, hiding, economy, and self-actualization than site occupancy.
Local wisdom can be learned through discovery of physical elements of traditional villages, such as spatial layout, architectural objects, and daily activities. The organization prevailing in environment plays an important role in managing a contextual mitigation culture. The co-existence of authority (mandate) masters have the authority of value/cultural capital and to create symbolic elements, such as will or belief. Sindang Barang Cultural Village was taken as a case study to reveal the history and role of the mandate in the culture of disaster mitigation. This study aims to observe the role of the mandate and its impact in disaster mitigation. The role of the mandate is also examined to see the existence of efforts to preserve the values of local wisdom towards the times. This research uses descriptive-qualitative method by tracing the phenomena and artifacts in the field. The analysis carried out in two phases. The first phase is to create a mitigation concept table based on the existing program or artifacts. The second phase is to discuss the mitigation culture based on its classified capacities. The mitigation seen from the Sindang Barang Cultural Village program and artifacts is the risk of fire, earthquake, and landslide. The process of determining a mandate is commensurate with adaptive capacity because this stage tends to lead to restriction or orders about in program that is carried out systematically in particular context.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
