Competitividad. Adulto mayor. Abstract:The challenges that the globalization process present to contemporary cities demands to study a diverse number of social, economic and political facts in order for them to become competitive. The Social Cohesion phenomenon is one of such facts. The necessary active participation of every social actor to strength the process of Social Cohesion within a society implies a deep reflection about the "social and political invisibility of elderly people", as Montes de Oca (2003) has mentioned. The above reflection is relevant in order to understand the role that such group should play to achieve Social Cohesion within an urban context. This, in fact, is one of the greatest challenges to overcome in any Modern City interested to become competitive worldwide.
