The aim of this paper is to describe the shifting of halal certification system in Indonesia, which previously tended to be society-centric towards state-centric. The needs of domestic consumers for a legally strong halal assurance system and the spread of global halal trend encourage the birth of Law Number 33 of 2014. The law makes halal certification compulsory rather than voluntary, in which the control conducted by the arrangements of LPPOM MUI is shifted to the superintendence of the Ministry of Religion through Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH)/ Halal Product Guarantee Agency. This research uses a qualitative method, in which the data gathered from semi-structured interviews and studies of literature. The research result shows that the system of state-centric halal certification has more benefits than that of the society-centric system that was previously applied in Indonesia. However, it could not be proven yet since the new system has not been implemented and the supporting infrastructures have not actually been ready to operate.
As an education area, Jatinangor has been encountering a high rate of population and economic improvements which have encourage the development of Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) in Jatinangor. On the other side, the government implement the Undang-Undang No.33/2014 Jaminan Produk Halal that in 2019 all products have the halal-certified. In order for this policy run properly, it needs understanding from producers to provide halal products and register halal certification to guarantee consumer rights and satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to know the understanding of UMKM in Jatinangor in guaranteeing halal food products made by the possession of halal certificates issued by the authorized halal certification institution. The research method used is quantitative research methods with data collection techniques through questionnaires, observation, and semi-structured interviews. The results of this study indicate that the understanding of UMKM in Jatinangor on halal certification is still relatively low. The market share of food products in Jatinangor has not been matched by the availability of food that is halal guaranteed through ownership of halal certification by UMKM as a food provider in Jatinangor. This condition is caused by a variety of reasons, but the main reason is the lack of knowledge, information, and socialization of the halal certification process itself as well as the problems in terms of costs that must be incurred to carry out the halal certificationregistration process.
Cell death is a basic physiological process that occurs in all living organisms. A few key players in these mechanisms, as well as various forms of cell death programming, have been identified. Apoptotic cell phagocytosis, also known as apoptotic cell clearance, is a well-established process regulated by a number of molecular components, including ‘find-me’, ‘eat-me’ and engulfment signals. Efferocytosis, or the rapid phagocytic clearance of cell death, is a critical mechanism for tissue homeostasis. Despite having similar mechanism to phagocytic clearance of infections, efferocytosis differs from phagocytosis in that it induces a tissue-healing response and is immunologically inert. However, as field of cell death has rapid expanded, much attention has recently been drawn to the efferocytosis of additional necrotic-like cell types, such as necroptosis and pyroptosis. Unlike apoptosis, this method of cell suicide allows the release of immunogenic cellular material and causes inflammation. Regardless of the cause of cell death, the clearance of dead cells is a necessary function to avoid uncontrolled synthesis of pro-inflammatory molecules and inflammatory disorder. We compare and contrast apoptosis, necroptosis and pyroptosis, as well as the various molecular mechanisms of efferocytosis in each type of cell death, and investigate how these may have functional effects on different intracellular organelles and signalling networks. Understanding how efferocytic cells react to necroptotic and pyroptotic cell uptake can help us understand how to modulate these cell death processes for therapeutic purposes.
