This service aims to empower the Social Volunteers of Tanjungwangi Village, Cicalengka District, Bandung Regency in improving their public speaking skills. The ability to speak in public is an important part of every activity, especially activities in social settings. In fact, there are still very few social volunteers who have public speaking skills in carrying out their duties in various social activities. From this, the Community Service Team for the Communication Science Study Program of Universitas Pasundan took the initiative to carry out community service with the theme of Improving the Communication Ability of Social Volunteers in Tanjungwangi Village, Cicalengka District, Bandung Regency, West Java Province through Public Speaking Techniques. The location selection is inseparable from the large number of community social volunteers who wish to have the ability to speak in front of the general public and presentation techniques during counseling but have not yet been honed. The method used in this training is to present material, discussion, and simulation. The problems faced by partners are partners who do not yet have the ability to make materials or materials for counseling, partners have not been able to communicate effectively using public speaking techniques. This service activity uses a contextual approach, namely giving theory first and providing direction and mentoring partners in making outreach materials, preparing presentations, and public speaking techniques. Then with the facilitating method in content containing counseling, information, and education materials in the form of writing and video through social media.
The growth of games as a fast growing industry in Indonesia has made online gaming business lines increasingly developed, so that a business market for buying and selling virtual goods (virtual items in games) is formed in several virtual goods marketplaces such as itemku.com. The formation of the business market on the virtual goods marketplace has created various perceptions to support their gaming activities. This study uses qualitative methods, observation techniques, in-depth interviews and documentation. The theory used is perception. This study will discuss how variables such as sensation, anticipation and interpretation are formed from gamers about how microtransactions are carried out and also associated with CMC (Computer Mediated Communcations) to find out how communication patterns occur in these mictrotransactions. As a result, the majority of gamers have the same perception of microtransactions. Gamers who make virtual goods transactions aim to get satisfaction as well as actualization, virtual items that have more value in the game also trigger to perform microtransactions as part of the pride, and factor of self-existence when doing gaming activities using CMC.
Videos and movies can be categorized as one of mass media in conveying messages to society. One of the important processes in video or film making is the editing process.The community service reported in this paper aimed to provide a training on film and video editing for literacy activists at the Kali Atas Community House of Reading, Cicalengka. Based on the analysis of the conditions faced by the participants, it was decided that the community service program should not only focus on increasing people's reading interest, but should also include activities that support the creativity of the community. The specific target expected from the training was to increase the participants’ creativity demonstrated by their ability to create video content that can attract people's reading interest. The film and video editing training was implemented for 3 weeks, starting from surveys, interviews, activities, evaluations, to final report. As a result of this activity, literacy activists who belonged to the Kali Atas Community House of Reading, Cicalengka, showed that they were able to produce a video that contained useful information for literacy promotion activities and this video was later uploaded on social media such as YouTube, Facebook, and Iinstagram. We recommend that this activity be continued to support literacy activities in Cicalengka such as discussion on media literacy, mural painting as well as more advanced training on film/video editing.
Salah satu bentuk dari komunikasi adalah menggunakan bahasa verbal dan nonverbal, dimana keduanya mengandung bahasa kasih (love language). Dalam penggunaan bahasa kasih pada tunanetra anak, konsep diri yang terbentuk dari kasih sayang yang mereka terima, serta pola komunikasi yang terbentuk dari interaksi antara mereka dengan orang terdekat menjadi fokus penelitian. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Balai Rehabilitasi Sosial Penyandang Disabilitas Sensorik Netra (BRSPDSN) Wyata Guna Bandung dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan wawancara mendalam kepada narasumber, yaitu tunanetra anak dan pekerja sosial yang ada di BRSPDSN Wyata Guna Bandung. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bahasa kasih kata-kata penegas (word of affirmation) dan pelayanan (acts of service) merupakan bahasa kasih yang dimiliki tunanetra anak di BRSPDSN Wyata Guna Bandung. Kasih sayang yang diterima tunanetra anak memengaruhi cara mereka berinteraksi dengan orang lain. Tunanetra anak yang merasa disayangi menjadi lebih terbuka dan nyaman terhadap significant other, sedangkan tunanetra anak yang tidak merasa disayangi merasa tidak nyaman dan tidak peduli kepada significant other. Dari kasih sayang itu juga dapat membentuk konsep diri yang positif kepada tunanetra anak. Pola komunikasi yang terdapat pada komunikasi interpersonal antara tunanetra anak dan significant other ialah pola komunikasi primer dan sekunder, namun pola komunikasi tersebut tidak akan terbentuk jika jarang terjadi interaksi.
