Calcium Citrate Malate’s (CCM) health benefits were patented over three decades ago. It is involved in calcium retention, in children and adolescents. In adulthood, it is seen to promote the maintenance of bone health. In conjunction with vitamin D, CCM also decreases the risk of bone fracture in aged people and ensures that postmenopausal women’s health is made better. CCM, unlike other supplements, does not need to be taken along with a meal and is seen to deliver benefits to individuals of any age group. CCM is usually used when the person has achlorhydria where the gastric acid secretion is reduced and there is an absence of an acidic environment (required by calcium carbonate). Calcium citrate Malate possesses outstanding bioavailability properties and is a useful extension to the calcium available presently, either for direct supplementation or for food fortification.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble, steroid hormone responsible for the phospho calcium mechanism. Mainly vitamin D encompasses a group of steroid compounds, namely the VitD2 (ergocalciferol) and the VitD3(cholecalciferol). It is an important requirement for normal functioning of the skeletal muscles, organs and normal metabolism. Providing Vitamin D supplementation to people with Diabetes (Type 1 and 2), Covid-19 positive and people with Thyroid problems showed improved glycaemic controls and regularized blood sugar levels, increase in immune response and regulating the Thyroid levels in the body. Vitamin D also adds to the innate immune system and also plays a major role in zinc metabolism which becomes a major reason for decreasing the symptoms of COVID-19 in the human body. Carotenoids are pigments that are lipophilic in nature. Lycopene is an important dietary carotenoid that has been seen to be effective in managing and treating various medical conditions. It has aliphatic properties. It can be isolated from watermelons, tomatoes, and papayas. All the studies were examined separately according to need, like, dose determination, comparison with other similar products, their concentration in body fluid and also their effectiveness at different sites and types of comorbidities. It can prevent inflammatory and oxidative properties. Lycopene has pharmacological effects in diseases related to the central nervous system like Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease along with this it also exhibits Cardioprotective and anti-microbial properties. It is also noteworthy to mention that antioxidants help in protecting and preventing the condition of atherosclerosis.
Vitamins are micronutrients which form an essential part of our diet. They are needed for healthy functioning of metabolic activities, some forms of vitamin form basis for our immunity and bone building. Usually essential nutrients cannot be synthesised in our bodies, hence we need to obtain them from our diet. Many Vitamin groups have been studied extensively for the pharmacological effects. Many studies have proved the effectiveness of combination therapies of vitamins with other medication for treatment of various diseases. This review presents all the studies conducted to prove the therapeutic effects of vitamins. Keywords: Multivitamins, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Ginseng, Niacinamide, Antibiotics, Cefuroxime, DAV Therapy.
