A novel implantable MCS system was used to treat this patient's neuropathic facial pain. Durable improvements were noted not only in her facial pain, but also in swallowing toleration. The ultimate role of MCS in the treatment of pain conditions is still not well-defined but might play a part in refractory cases and, as in this case, might improve other functional issues, including dysphagia.
The analysis of pressure pulses which are generated in a fissioning gas by neutron irradiation is extended to the case of a dissociating medium including a condensed phase. After a satisfactory check of the process induced in boron trifluoride that was treated previously, the analysis is applied to borazine for which the former method would be quite inadequate since now the effects of dissociation, involving the formation of free liquid boron, become predominant in controlling the thermodynamic behavior of the substance.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
