ABSTRACTThis work explores some instruments of post-occupation evaluation, focusing on the perception of environmental comfort, applied in a school building. The experience generated this paper, produced as final work of the discipline "evaluation of the performance of the built environment", taught at postgraduate Architectural course at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PROARQ/ UFRJ). It contributes to research projects led by the Environmental Education Group (GAE) belonging to the same institution, which deals with themes related to the improvement of the quality of life in school environments, encompassing areas of architecture, sustainable development, psychology and education. Initially, the most appropriate tools to approach of were chosen, according to theme researched and the profile of the users of the space, resulting in walkthrough analysis, interview and visual map. The instruments were then applied during three days of scheduled visits to the case study, the results were processed, and considerations were made about the experience. The contribution is made under the aspects of the subjects in focus -thermal, light and acoustic comfort to upgrade the quality of the school environment -as to the improvement of the formulation and the application of the instruments for the established objectives.
