Quantum computing promises the possibility of studying the real-time dynamics of nonperturbative quantum field theories while avoiding the sign problem that obstructs conventional lattice approaches. Current and near-future quantum devices are severely limited by noise, making investigations of simple low-dimensional lattice systems ideal testbeds for algorithm development. Considering simple supersymmetric systems, such as supersymmetric quantum mechanics with different superpotentials, allows for the analysis of phenomena like dynamical supersymmetry breaking. We present ongoing work applying quantum computing techniques to study such theories, targeting real-time dynamics and supersymmetry breaking effects.
This paper investigates the link between remittances and autocratic regime stability. It challenges the prevailing assumption that remittances cannot be directly captured as a source of hard capital by states. It proposes that remittances increase regime durability by incentivizing and enabling currency overvaluation and seigniorage revenue generation in autocratic states that produce non-freely convertible currencies. It uses cross-national time-series data from autocratic regimes in Sub-Saharan African countries from 1975-2015 to test this theory. The analysis shows that remittances increase autocratic regime durability in countries that have monopoly control over domestic currency production.
Tämä artikkelikokoelma on koottu professori Ulla-Maija Forsbergin (s. 2.8.1960) 60-vuotispäivän kunniaksi. Teos sisältää oppilaiden ja kollegoiden tieteellisiä artikkeleita Ulla-Maija Forsbergin uraan ja tuotantoon liittyvistä aiheista. Mukaan mahtuu myös kollegoiden muisteloita uran varrelta. Tieteellisten artikkeleiden teemat kuvastavat osaltaan Forsbergin oman tuotannon laaja-alaisuutta ja monipuolisuutta: mukana on runsaasti uralilaista etymologiaa ja äännehistoriaa käsitteleviä artikkeleita, samoin muut uralilaisten kielten historia-aiheet ja useimmat uralilaiset kielet ovat edustettuina. Erityisesti Ulla-Maijalle läheisiä obinugrilaisia kieliä käsitellään eri näkökulmista: joukkoon mahtuu mm. mansin kielen äännehistoriaa, hantin murteiden vertailua, mansin uudissananoja ja hantin informaatiorakennetta. Myös Forsbergin pitkäaikainen kiinnostuksen kohde M. A. Castrénin tuotanto esittäytyy hantin kielen näkökulmasta.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
