Consumers are increasingly demanding information regarding the characteristics of products, their place of origin and methods of production. A Geographical Indication (GI) can be understood as a way to meet these demands, as it protects the origin of the product, as well as its characteristics. In addition to contributing to territorial development, GI signs have the potential to add value to products and help producers to become more competitive. However, some authors argue that there are barriers that can prevent the benefits of GI from reaching producers. Therefore, this article aims to identify the barriers and benefits of GI for producers. To reach this end, a Systematic Literature Review was carried out. As a result, it was observed that among the main benefits offered by the GI are higher prices, access to markets and preservation of cultural identity. Regarding the challenges, it was highlighted the existence of inefficient institutions, organizational problems, power asymmetry and appropriation of value by the most powerful agents of the supply chain. To conclude, this paper shows that the difficulties and benefits of GI to producers are not absolute and vary from region to region. In this sense, further research on the impact of GI, especially in developing countries, is necessary. The results here presented may be used as a base for future research that search to identify the importance of GI for producers and may also contribute to the development of actions or public policies related to GI.

Waste-to-Energy Technologies (WtE) have been widely used in European countries, in Japan, in some US cities, and have been growing in China. Currently, in Brazil, there are no WtE power plants in operation, but there are studies on the feasibility of this technology. The Systematic Bibliographic Review (SBR) presented in this mini-review article appears as a result of a process of prospecting documents in the following databases: Science Direct, Web of Science and Scopus. The purpose was to map the articles of the last five years on the applications of WtE technologies in Brazil. From the selection of articles relevant to the research, these documents were registered and cataloged, as well as their qualitative and quantitative analyses. During the systematization process, it was possible to raise hypotheses about which professionals have been working the most on this topic, the journals in which these researches are being published and the keywords most addressed for these case studies. In addition, it was possible to identify the characteristics of the publications related to the theme, the central axes of analysis of the studies and the primary techniques studied for the Brazilian reality. It was also considered part of the results of the present work, the systematization of the main definitions of WtE, the presentation of the main WtE technologies operations, and the exposition of the benefits and impacts of each of these technologies.

Resumo-A Pesquisa Operacional se insere na história dos grandes acontecimentos tecnológicos e científicos do século XX. Sua influência no surgimento de outras ciências e aplicações, cujos desdobramentos no período pós-guerra contribuíram para o aumento da racionalização da sociedade moderna são evidentes. Diante deste contexto, este artigo tem como objetivo traçar uma reconstrução analítica sobre os aspectos filosóficos e metodológicos que marcam a história da pesquisa operacional. Tal reconstrução será realizada por meio do método histórico utilizando bibliografia e documentos. O aperfeiçoamento das técnicas da Pesquisa Operacional foi um fator determinante para o seu sucesso e seus aspectos metodológicos e filosóficos reverenciaram pensadores como John Dewey, Churchman e Capra, que são referências para entender o pensamento do homem moderno. Verifica-se que a Segunda Guerra Mundial foi determinante para a ciência de modo geral e mais especificamente para o grande avanço da pesquisa operacional. As conquistas obtidas pela PO, em grande parte, decorrem da formação de grupos multidisciplinares que permitiram a evolução da área em diversas direções, propiciando um diálogo interdisciplinar. It turns out that World War II was determinant for science in general and more specifically for the great advance of operations research. The achievements of the OR, largely, result from the formation of multidisciplinary groups that allowed the evolution of the area in several directions, providing an interdisciplinary dialogue.
