The purpose of this article is to narrate educational activities in the health area, developed in an elementary school in São Leopoldo, as part of the methodology of an investigation about teenage pregnancy. Our goal is to discuss health educational conceptions, which are present in school sexuality approaches, and also report an experience which linked research and health in school. Workshops, based on a liberating conception of pedagogy, were the source of data collection. The experience involved 836 students from 3rd to 8th grade, as well as their teachers and pedagogy academicians, and proved to be an efficient mean of education for health. The formation of individuals compromised e responsible for his/her choices concerning health was also one of the objectives of this investigation.
