The influence of specimen geometry was studied on 80 mm thick plates of Fe 510 steel. The multi‐specimen technique according to ASTM E 813 was compared with SZW and DCPD measurements. Using the ASTM standard lower Jlc values are determined with increasing specimen thickness and overall geometry dimensions, because the calculated blunting line doesn't represent the material's blunting behaviour and the conditions for ‘J‐controlled’ crack growth are not applied sufficiently strict in this standard. The initiation values Ji are geometry independent and are lower than Jlc. A proposal to determine a technical J0.2 value has been suggested for a constant value of Δa = 0.2 mm, which is less complicated concerning the procedure being used, which is resulting in minor geometry independence and is approaching the physical initiation values.
The development of steel grade up to X 80 quality was shown explaining metallurgical mechanisms used for thermomechanically rolled steels with improved toughness behaviour. The influence of the reduction of C-content for these TM-steels on the field welding behaviour was discussed. The development of steels with improved resistance against sour media was presented, showing the influence of purity degree, Mn-and C-content in combination with the steelmaking practice. The influence of residual stress on the SSCC resistance of SAW pipe was pointed out and a heat treatment process was presented reducing the residual stress and resulting in crack free spiral welded pipes under the most severe test condition of NACE-solution with pH-values of 2.7-3.5.
Stahle fUrRohre und Rohrleitungen. Die Entwicklung von Stahlen bls zur Sorte X 80 wurde dargestellt anhand von metallurgischen MaBnahmen, die fur thermomechanisch gewalzte Stahle mit verbessertem Zahiqkeitsverhalten genutzt werden. Der EinfluB der reduzierten Kohlenstoffgehalte dieser TM-Stahle auf die FeldschweiBbarkeit wurde diskutiert. Die Entwicklung von Stahlen mit erh6hter Korrosionsbestandiqkeit bei Sauergasbeanspruchung wurde aufgezeigt. Dabei wird der EinfluB von Reinheitsgrad, Mnund C-Gehalt in Verbindung mit dem StahlherstellungsprozeB betrachtet. Der EinfluB von Eigenspannungen auf die Bestandiqkeit gegen SSC-RiBbildung von UP-geschweiBten Rohren wurde aufgezeigt und ein Warmebehandlungsverfahren zum Abbau der Eigenspannungen wurde vorgestellt, so daB selbst bei extrem scharfen Bedingungen der NACE-L6sung mit pH-Werten 2,7-3,5 bei spiralgeschweiBten Rohren RiBfreiheit erzielt wird. after W.
