The second maxilla is innervated typically by 35 motor neurones in Nectocarcinus antarcticus and about 39 in Cancer novaezelandiae. Muscles are multiply innervated. Within one species variations in the number of motor neurones innervating any muscle do occur but are not common.
Eutarsopolipus megacheB n. sp. and E. secundus n. sp. (Acari: Podapolipidae) are described from Catadromus lacordairei Boisduval (Coleoptera: Carabidae). Two new groups of Eutarsopolipus, the megacheli group and secundus group, are proposed for these species. This is the first record of Eutarsopolipus mites from Australia. Keys are provided to groups of Eutarsopolipus mites associated with carabid beetles worldwide.
