This study aimed to evaluate the amount of fiber in the diet that is able to promote better use of nutrients in the diet of dairy goats when forage palm is the main source of roughage. Fifteen Alpine dairy goats were distributed in a 5 × 5 triple Latin square containing five treatments and five periods, and each treatment contained. We tested five diets composed of different contents of neutral detergent fiber from Tifton hay (NDFf) in the dry matter of rations containing forage palm: D1: 11.98%; D2: 18.31%; D3: 23.68%; D4: 28.76% and D5: 32.12% NDFf. The intake of dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, non-fiber carbohydrates and ether extract decreased linearly with the increase in NDFf content. There was a linear increase of milk production and milk protein with increasing dietary NDFf. The fat, dry extract, protein, pH and acidity of the evaluated milk were not affected by increasing the levels of NDFf in the diet. In situations where dairy goats are fed forage palm and other types of forage are limited, 11.98% NDF from forage other than palm can be used as an effective source of NDF.
Caracterização dos taninos condensados das espécies maniçoba (Manihot pseudoglazovii), flor-de-seda (Calotropis procera), feijão-bravo (Capparis flexuosa, L) e jureminha (Desmanthus virgatus) RESUMOCaracterizaram-se os taninos condensados (TC) e determinaram-se a composição bromatológica e a digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca (DIVMS) das espécies maniçoba (Manihot pseudoglazovii Pax & Hoffman), flor-de-seda (Calotropis procera), feijão-bravo (Capparis flexuosa, L) e jureminha (Desmanthus virgatus (L.) Willd). As concentrações em tanino solúvel, tanino ligado ao resíduo e tanino total (TT) das espécies foram determinadas pelo método butanol-HCL e a adstringência pelo método de difusão radial. Para a DIVMS, foi utilizado método de dois estágios. Foram observadas diferenças entre as espécies (P<0,01) quanto à concentração e adstringência dos taninos. As maiores concentrações foram encontradas na jureminha, 2,4% TT e 13,7 -3 de adstringência. Não foi detectado tanino na flor-de-seda. O teor em PB foi acima de 16% em todas as espécies estudadas, e o FDA e lignina abaixo de 39 e 15%, respectivamente. A DIVMS foi baixa na jureminha, 43%, e alta na flor-de-seda, 80%. A correlação entre a DIVMS e a concentração em taninos condensados foi baixa (r=0,097).Palavras-chave: Nordeste, forrageiras nativas, adstringência, fator antinutricional, pro-antrocianidinas, ruminante ABSTRACT Condensed tannins (CT) of the species maniçoba (Manihot pseudoglaziovii), flor-de-seda (Calotropis procera), feijão-bravo (Capparis flexuosa) and jureminha (Desmanthus virgatus) were characterized and the chemical composition and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of those species were determined. Concentration of soluble tannin (ST), bound tannin (BT) and total tannin (TT) of the plants was determined using butanol-HCL method; astringency was determined, using radial diffusion method, and the IVDMD was determined using two-stages method. Concentration and astringency of condensed tannins varied between species (P<0.01).Jureminha was the species that presented the highest value (2.4% . No tannins were detected in flor-de-seda. Crude protein was higher than 16% in all studied species, and the ADF and lignin values were lower than 39 and 15%, respectively. The IVDMD was low in jureminha (43%) and high in florde-seda (80%). The correlation between IVDMD and TT was low (r 2 =0.097).
-The objective of this work was to evaluate the chemical composition of the pool and of four species of caatinga herbaceous vegetation in the rainy and dry seasons. The experiment was conducted in three selected shrub areas at different levels of conservation. Four samples of each species (Arachis pintoi, Boerhavia diffusa, Heliotropium ternatum, Aristida adscensionis) were collected in each area and from a pool of species for determination of bromatologic composition.In the dry season, only the pool of species and the grass Aristida adscensionis were evaluated. There was a significant effect of the studied area on the chemical composition of all analyzed species. The nutrient content found in the dry matter (DM) and the digestibility of the pool of species indicate that caatinga herbs presented improved quality in the rainy season. The qualitative variables of the studied species were most heterogeneous due to the variability found in caatinga. Conservation conditions in caatinga and season of the year influence bromatologic composition of the species Arachis pintoi, Boerhavia diffusa L., Heliotropium ternatum Vahl. Aristida adscensionis L. and of a pool of typical species found in Caatinga.Key Words: herbs, native species, quality, semiarid Composição bromatológica de espécies herbáceas da caatingaRESUMO -Com o objetivo de avaliar a composição bromatológica do pool e de quatro espécies da vegetação herbácea da caatinga nos períodos chuvoso e seco foi conduzido um experimento em três áreas selecionadas de caatinga, com níveis diferenciados de conservação. Em cada área, foram colhidas quatro amostras de cada espécie (Arachis pintoi, Boerhavia diffusa, Heliotropium ternatum, Aristida adscensionis) e de um pool de espécies, para determinação da composição bromatológica. Na época seca foram avaliados somente o pool de espécies e a gramínea Aristida adscensionis. Houve efeito significativo da área amostrada na composição bromatológica de todas as espécies analisadas. Os teores de nutrientes na matéria seca (MS) e a digestibilidade do pool das espécies indicam que as ervas da caatinga apresentaram melhor qualidade na época chuvosa. As variáveis qualitativas das espécies analisadas mostraram-se heterogêneas, devido à variabilidade encontrada na caatinga. As condições de conservação da caatinga e o período do ano influenciam a composição bromatológica das espécies Arachis pintoi, Boerhavia diffusa L., Heliotropium ternatum Vahl. e Aristida adscensionis L. e de um pool de espécies típicas da caatinga.Palavras-chave: ervas, espécies nativas, qualidade, semiárido Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia
This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of ensiling sorghum silage with urea and amending the aerobic exposure nutrients intake and apparent digestibility, ingestive behaviour and blood serum metabolites of feedlot lambs. Forty uncastrated crossbred Dorper × Santa Inês lambs, aged 150 ± 15 days and with an initial body weight of 21.73 ± 2.40 kg, were used. Animals were assigned in a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement. Thus, six silage diets were produced with various urea addition levels (UA: 0 and 5 g/kg on a natural matter basis) and periods of aerobic exposure of silages (PAE: 0, 24 and 48 h). An effect was observed for nutrient intakes of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fibre corrected for ash and protein (NDFap) and total digestive nutrients TDN (g/day) and for the total apparent digestibility of DM, OM and CP. There was an interaction effect between urea levels and aerobic exposure for ether extract (EE) and NDFap intakes (g/kg) and nonfibrous carbohydrate (NFC) digestibility (g/kg) (p = 0.012). The addition of 5 g/kg of urea to sorghum ensilage improved the digestibility parameters without changing dry matter intake and ingestive behaviour. The addition or not of urea does not change the blood parameters of the animals.
