The current trend at universities is to offer to students the study programs with the subjects taught in English. We are interested in the facts what competences and associated learning outcomes can be achieved by the students. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is the pedagogical and statistical analysis of the study outcomes. We have decided to compare the examination results of the selected subjects and determine whether study outcomes of the subjects are statistically dependent. We have obtained the data for the analysis from the compulsory subjects of Mathematics (taught in English and in the Slovak language) and from the subject English for Specific Purposes I. We have analysed the results of the study groups from the Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.
In the Slovak Republic the system of assessment of a financial efficiency in the local self-government is complicated. This is due to the fact that the local self-government is not primarily supposed to provide the profit, but to guarantee services for inhabitants which will increase the quality of their lives. Despite the fact of this difficulty, some special methods are created for the analysis of the financial performance of the local selfgovernment and the quantitative tools belong to the effective means of this process. The basis of the financial assessment is the calculation of the financial parameters, which allow to rate the effectiveness of the financing of the municipality. The main objective of this paper is the measuring of the financial performance of municipalities in the Slovak Republic via selected financial parameters. The data are evaluated in the time period 2000-2015 with the prediction for year 2016. The calculations and modeling outputs were carried out by tools of MS Excel. The graphical outputs illustrate corresponding trend lines with the changes in values and forecasts for a following period. Calculated indicators represent the exact tool for a rating of the financial efficiency of local municipalities.
The main objective of this paper follows from the education of students at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra who will work as experts in different areas. The educational system of experts and professionals cannot operate in the isolation but in the context of changes in the professional field and society. In the paper we focused on the analysis of students' mathematics and language competences acquired via method CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). The learners can realize the impact of their acquired knowledge to the study of other specialized courses and to better conditions for study stays. In the research part it is described the survey through which we verified the efficiency of CLIL methodology in the education of chosen topics of two study subjects: Mathematics and English. The results of pedagogical experiment were analyzed using statistical methods. The experiment confirmed that the above-mentioned methodology of mathematics teaching was effective. Based on the obtained results we can conclude that the students have the abilities to use mathematical apparatus and language skills, which is an important prerequisite for their professional advancement.
Consumers' buying behavior and preferences are affected by many factors such as the product quality, price, labeling and country of origin. The objective of this paper was to examine the opinions of the Slovak consumers about the purchase and consumption of eggs and identify their preferences at egg purchase. The input data were obtained using a questionnaire survey. The method of descriptive statistics and selected methods of measuring dependence or associations were used. The existence of statistically significant relationships was verified by the Pearson chi-square test or by the Fisher's exact test. The statistical proof of relationships was evaluated based on the significance of the test characteristic (p-value). The existence of dependence between the most important factor affecting purchasing of eggs -a price of eggs, and the age of the respondent -was confirmed. Further, the relationship between the preferred place of buying eggs and the classification criterion was also proved, i.e. whether a respondent is a breeder of the egg type of hens or not. The relationship between the preferred place of buying eggs and the gender of a respondent was confirmed as well. There was determined the dependence on the gender of a respondent in the question related to eggs consumption.
