Background: The Stroop test requires the individual to respond to specific elements of a stimulus, whereas inhibiting more automated processes.
In the current scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of false information has spread through social networks. This study aimed to characterize the types of fake news in health and the factors that influence its sharing. This is a descriptive cross-sectional observational study conducted by health scholars who analyzed the messages received in the WhatsApp network and the sociodemographic characteristics of sharers in the year 2020. Results: The level of education influences the spread of false news, and family members have a higher frequency of sharing these news. As for the type of content of fake news, the fabricated content and false context stood out as the most shared ones. Background: Distress has a potentiating effect on complications of heart disease. Early identification of distress and psychosocial management could help patients to deal with the disease and improve their quality of life. However, in Brazil, there is no specific instrument for evaluation of distress in cardiac patients.Objectives: To describe the validation process of the Screening Tool for Psychosocial Distress (STOP-D) for the Brazilian population.Methods: Cross-sectional, observational study with a quantitative approach. A total of 144 patients (including outpatients and inpatients) were interviewed at the waiting room of the outpatient cardiology clinic or in cardiology wards. Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected, and distress was assessed using two instruments -the Brazilian version of the STOP-D and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). First, we performed an exploratory factor analysis and analysis of the accuracy of the STOP-D score by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curvet. Results:The factorability analysis of the correlation matrix did not detect any factor that made the factorial solution unfeasible. The instrument showed a single-factor nature, confirmed by the criterion of eigenvalues, with an 85% accuracy in predicting distress. A cut-off point of 15.5 was chosen for distress using the ROC curve. Conclusions:The Brazilian version of the STOP-D is an adequate instrument for the screening of heart disease patient for distress. It can be easily used by any health professional and would contribute to the promotion of a comprehensive support to cardiac patients.
rEsUmoIntrodução: Os efeitos do exercício físico são associados à redução da ansiedade e à manutenção desse estado por diversas horas. Contudo, poucos trabalhos têm investigado os efeitos do exercício agudo sobre a ansiedade. Objetivo: Investigar o efeito agudo da intensidade do exercício físico sobre comportamento relacionado com a ansiedade em modelos animais. Métodos: Cinquenta e seis ratos Wistar machos foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em oito grupos: controle, 0%, 5% e 50% de carga correspondente ao peso corporal dos animais. Os grupos foram submetidos a um protocolo de natação que consistiu na realização de 30 minutos de exercício para os grupos 0% e 5% e dez sessões de dez saltos intercalados por um minuto de descanso para o grupo 50%. Após a natação, os animais foram expostos aos testes de campo aberto e labirinto em cruz elevado. Os dados foram avaliados estatisticamente pela One-way ANOVA e teste post hoc de Bonferroni, adotando-se P<0,05. Resultados: Na análise dos dados no teste de campo aberto foram encontradas diferenças significativas nas medidas de cruzamento (F (3,20) = 9,60; p < 0,01), ocorrendo um aumento de cruzamentos do grupo 5% (81,2 ± 14,8) com relação ao grupo controle (45,0 ± 8,7). Foi encontrada diferença significativa no percentual de entrada nos braços abertos (F (3,28) = 5,63; p < 0,01), havendo uma diminuição no grupo 50% (25,4 ± 17,0) com relação ao grupo controle (46,8 ± 9,1). Conclusão: A prática de exercício físico na intensidade de 5% apresentou efeitos ansiolíticos, enquanto na intensidade de 50%, apresentou efeitos ansiogênicos. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the immediate and short-term effects of the Balance Exercise Circuit (BEC) on muscle strength, postural balance, and quality of life, with the aim of preventing falls in older adults. Methods: Twenty-two volunteers participated in this randomized controlled crossover study. Group A performed BEC training in the initial 3 months and received no intervention in the following 3 months. Group B received no intervention during the first 3 months and then participated in BEC training for the next 3 months. In addition, participants were followed for an additional 3 months. Muscle strength, postural balance, functional mobility, and quality of life were assessed, respectively, using an isokinetic dynamometer, force platform, TUG test, and the WHOQOL. Results: After 3 months of training, Group A presented improved balance and rate of force development (RFD), while Group B presented improvements in RFD, TUG performance, and WHOQOL physical and psychological domains. Regarding the short-term effects, the participants maintained the training effects in WHOQOL balance, RFD, and the social domain. In addition, the number of falls decreased during follow-up. Conclusion: The BEC intervention improved muscle strength, postural balance, and quality of life in older adults, in addition to reducing the risk of falls.
