Determinations of accessibility and total crystalline content have been made for a number of regenerated cellulose fibres. Moisture sorption has been used as a measure of cellulose accessibility, and total crystalline content has been estimated from density measurements.
It is suggested that the results may be interpreted as showing differences in the average cross‐sectional area of crystalline regions.
An attempt is made to correlate these differences with the properties of the fibres produced by various methods of manufacture.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
