Usability testing is one of the most used methods to define the level of usability of a software product. However, there is always uncertainty to determine the best method that complements user testing in a depth usability assessment. Nowadays, the concern of many software developers is to identify an appropriate methodology, whose evaluation methods could be capable of measuring all usability aspects of a user interface. For this reason, we conducted a heuristic evaluation as a preliminary step to the implementation of a usability test, in order to determine in which extent these methods complement each other, and establish the gaps which are covered by each of them. The heuristic evaluation was performed by five specialists in the field of Human-Computer Interaction, who identified a total of fifty-nine usability problems in a transactional web site. Subsequently, a usability test was conducted with the participation of eight postgraduate students of a master's program in Informatics Engineering. The results show that most of the usability problems which were detected during the usability testing, had already been identified by the heuristic evaluation. Nevertheless, there were significant differences in the importance that was given to each problem. Usability experts emphasized in aspects that were not relevant to end users.
Many Function Point (FP) technique adaptations have been proposed to estimate object-oriented software development projects. However, most research works propose rules to identify FP according previous versions of the FP Counting Practices Manual or they do not include some important UML specifications such as the composition relationship between classes. . In this paper, we present the rules to identify logic files using analysis class diagrams that are included in the UML 2 FP technique that we have defined, and a software tool named Tupux that support UML 2 FP application. These rules were defined in accordance with the recommendations included in the FP Counting Practices Manual 4.3.1. We also present the results obtained by applying our rules to software size estimation in a case study performed with undergraduate and graduate students. These results have proved that a person can make mistakes when applying the technique which could be avoided by using a software tool.

Technological growth has caused most companies to provide their products and services through the Internet. This domain forces organizations to offer high-quality web applications that can be accessed by individuals regardless of their abilities and capabilities. In particular, the E-Commerce context in which the competitiveness is high because of the number of web sites that are available on the Web, to offer graphical user interfaces that are accessible can be the deciding factor for business success. The purpose of this research is to evidence the degree of awareness about accessibility in Peru through an assessment of the main Peruvian web sites involved in the E-Commerce domain.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
