ResumenEl presente artículo muestra un recorrido histórico de la enseñanza de la matemática desde los acuerdos firmados por los países miembros de la ONU (1948) hasta las políticas educativas generadas por el Ministerio de Educación de Colombia para favorecer la enseñanza de las matemáticas. Se hace revisión de las políticas generadas a partir de los resultados de las pruebas de medición realizadas periódicamente (PERCE, SERCE, TERCE, PISA, Y SABER) y las falencias encontradas en los resultados tanto de estudiantes como de docentes y propone que a través de la mejora de los procesos formativos de los docentes no solo en la formación inicial, también en la formación en ejercicio, así como el enriquecimiento en el tema pedagógico y didáctico, se logra un cambio trascendental en el actuar del docente de matemáticas.Palabras Claves: Acuerdos internacionales sobre educación, enseñanza de la matemática, pedagogía y formación docente.AbstractThis manuscript presents an historical tour of the education on mathematics from the agreements signed by the countries members of the UNO (1948) up to the educational policies generated by the Department of Education of Colombia to favor the education of the mathematics. A review was made on the policies generated from the results of the measurement tests performed from time to time (PERCE, SERCE, TERCE, PISA, Y SABER) and the weaknesses found in the results both in students as well as in the teachers leads to propose that through the improvement of the teachers formative process of not only in the initial education but also in the formation in exercise, as well as the enrichment in the pedagogic and didactic topic, a transcendental change in to action of mathematics teachers will be achieved.
