Indigenous people of Dayak tribe in Kalimantan, Indonesia have traditionally relied on a system of mutual cooperation called handep. The cultural context has an influence on students mathematics learning. The handep system might be suitable for modern learning situations to develop mathematical problem-solving skill. The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of handep cooperative learning model compared to problem-based learning model on mathematical problem-solving skill of rational exponent material. The research was conducted through pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The sample of 66 students was selected from the population of 304 students through cluster random sampling. The mathematical problem-solving skill assessed with essay test of the open-ended question had reliability coefficient of 0,71. The students' answers scorings were obtained with the rubric of mathematical problem-solving skill. Data analysis is conducted through ANACOVA. The result presents that the mathematical problem-solving skill of students who learned through handep cooperative learning model is better than problem-based learning. Handep cooperative learning model is suitable to enhance the mathematical problem solving skill of students in Kalimantan-Indonesia cultural context. The teacher should construct the instructional material use metacognition questioning strategy and also be familiar to their students' prior knowledge of mathematics.
This article describes the development of handep cooperative learning model consist of 3-4 members become pair handep cooperative learning model in the form of module and validated by experts and students who used it. The model of development used R2D2, that focused on the design and development stage. The draft of the model at the single-path prototype level validated by the learning expert and small group validation in context the of mathematics learning in secondary school, to get the model at alpha version level. The instrument is rubric and questionnaire for small group testing. The result of the research (1) the model has fulflled the principle of quantum teaching that is context orchestrations include an exciting learning atmosphere and solid foundation; (2) junior high school students rated the model interesting and fun; (3) learning steps that to be challenging on individual work steps and mutually assisting in solved the difcult problems for students individually; (4) the model has reached the alpha version level. Keywords: Aplha version; cooperative learning; pairs handep; quantum teaching; single path prototype
This program aims to provide knowledge and skills for students who are writing a thesis at the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP University of Palangka Raya. The achievement target is that students are able to write scientific articles on research results in their thesis. Partners and the target audiences are 16 students who are writing a thesis at the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP University of Palangka Raya. Technical guidance will be held for 3 days from 08–11 October 2021 online using the Google Meet platform. Activities carried out during the stages of socialization, technical guidance, clinical guidance, and evaluation of manuscripts. The evaluation of the manuscript uses the assessment sheet for the relevant scientific journal articles, and the scientific journal accreditation guide (Arjuna). The results of providing technical guidance are as follows. Of the 16 articles, there are 4 articles whose findings are adequate and contribute to the development of science and technology. There are 6 draft articles that have been made by students, which consist of 3 draft articles with all the sub-chapters written by students waiting for the final exam schedule. Almost all draft articles have not met an adequate number of references for a scientific journal article. While the other three are draft articles that have met the requirements to be submitted for publication in scientific journals.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
