Introduction: data science careers are on the rise due to the growing demand for technical skills in this area. Data science careers focus on collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to identify patterns and trends, which allows organizations to make informed decisions and develop effective solutions. Aim: to analyze the thematic specialization of institutions with academic programs in the area of data science. Methods: The Scopus database was used to conduct a bibliometric analysis aimed at examining the thematic specialization of institutions with academic programs in the field of data science. SciVal, a bibliometric analysis tool, was employed to extract the relevant data. The study period ranged from 2012 to 2021. Results: Nine higher education institutions were found to offer undergraduate or graduate degrees in the field of data science. There was no correlation found between RSI and Field-Weighted Citation Impact (r=0.05355; P=0.8912; 95% CI: -0.6331 to 0.6930). Therefore, it cannot be claimed that specialization in the subject area studied influences the greater impact of research. On the other hand, recent accreditation did not influence greater specialization (r=0.1675; P=0.6667; 95% CI: -0.5588 to 0.7484). Additionally, no differences were found regarding academic level. Conclusions: The analysis of the thematic specialization of institutions with academic programs in the field of data science shows low scientific production in this field. Moreover, more than half of the analyzed higher education institutions have thematic specialization below the global average. This suggests that there is still a long way to go for these institutions to achieve adequate specialization and compete internationally in the field of data science.
Metaverse is a virtual reality (VR) environment with avatars and software agents using the internet and augmented reality (AR). This one is described as a new iteration of the internet, Metaverse uses VR headsets, blockchain technology and avatars in a new fusion of real and virtual worlds. The role of the programmer in the metaverse is to create and maintain programs that control the behavior of virtual objects and entities within the virtual space. This can include characters controlled by the computer, animations, special effects, and other visual and interactive elements. Programmers in the metaverse may work on a variety of different projects, such as developing new virtual worlds, creating games or other interactive experiences, or building tools and applications for use within the metaverse. They may also be responsible for maintaining and updating existing programs, fixing bugs, and optimizing performance. The main challenge facing programmers in the metaverse is creating a seamless and immersive experience for users. This involves designing and implementing a wide range of features, such as realistic and interactive 3D environments, avatars, physics and interactions, network communication and synchronization, and AI-powered non-player characters. The development of the metaverse requires a wide range of skills and technologies, including expertise in computer graphics, networking, AI, and user experience design.
Immersive learning design is the process of creating immersive learning experiences using technologies such as augmented reality virtual reality, and mixed reality. The goal of immersive learning design is to create engaging and interactive learning experiences that immerse learners in a virtual environment where they can explore and interact with the subject matter in meaningful ways. Today, immersive learning design is used in a wide range of settings, including education and corporate training. It is increasingly being recognized as an effective way to engage learners and enhance the learning experience. In this article, we systematize 10 best practices for immersive learning design. These technologies allow learners to experience and interact with the virtual environment in a way that is more realistic and immersive than traditional methods, such as lectures or reading materials. On the other hand, 10 points of connection between immersive learning design and the metaverse. The metaverse is transforming education by promoting communication and supporting immersive learning. The metaverse is also projected to dramatically boost e-learning by making virtual learning environments more lifelike and learning more engaging and experiential. Based on this reflection, it could be stated that metaverse could be a promising tool to provide an immersive learning experience for today's users.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
