In this article we studied in creams are topical preparation for the applied on the skin. “viscous liquid or semisolid emulsion is called as cream" The topical formulation is used to introduced the drug into the skin or mucous membrane of skin. And also for the different skin disorders. In this article we also discussed in the types of creams and there examples. Then studied the creams is pharmaceutical product because they prepared on the basis of technology in pharmaceutical industry. They may be medicated or non medicated or they are herbal, ayurvedic & allopathic. Skin reflects origins, lifestyle, age and state of health. Skin creams are mainly classified as O/W & W/O. Then they will be emmulsified by emulsifying agent. In the skin creams various vitamins are used like vit A, E, & D3 are the synthetic and fatty acid (EFA) are used. In which also used the water, oil, fat, Waxes, colours, glycol and etc. Creams have the number of advantages like easy apply, more effective compares to other avoid risk, drugs are absorb perfectly but in which disadvantages also present like, skin irritation can occur due to adjuent, large size drug are not absorb perfectly and etc.
Corticosteroids represent important therapies for numerous acute conditions and chronic diseases based on their broad anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant effects. They have been used extensively in managing many oral diseases, due to their excellent anti-inflammatory and Immuno-modulatory effect. This article is present at reviewing the uses of corticosteroids in the treatment of various oral condition. To study more about corticosteroids and other related concepts. It was focus on Physiological effect, Effect of anaesthesia and surgery and Important indication of Steroid in anaesthetic practice. There are strategies that can be used to minimize these risks, but some risks are often unavoidable. Topical use of corticosteroids, including inhalation, can be used to target specific organs for treatment. Corticosteroid therapy can be life-saving in serious and severe medical conditions.
Targeted drug delivery is an advanced method of delivering drugs to patients in such a targeted order that increases the concentration of the delivered drug only on the body part of interest (organs/tissues/cells), which in turn improves the effectiveness of the treatment while reducing side effects of drug administration. Basically, drug targeting should help the drug molecule to preferentially reach the desired site. The inherent advantage of this technique results in the administration of the required drug with its reduced dose and reduced side effect. This inherent advantage of a targeted drug delivery system is also strongly recognized by research and development in the clinical and pharmaceutical fields as the backbone of therapeutics and diagnostics. Various drug carriers that can be used in this advanced delivery system are soluble polymers, biodegradable microsphere polymers (synthetic and natural), neutrophils, fibroblasts, artificial cells, lipoproteins, liposomes, micelles, and immune micelles. The goal of a targeted drug delivery system is to prolong, localize, target, and have a protected drug interaction with the diseased.
Background: Lipid profile parameters may be used as biomarker for depression. Sertraline belongs to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), the most commonly used group to treat the depression in multidrug resistant tuberculosis patients. Methods: A prospective clinical trial was carried out in department of Psychiatry and department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory disease G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur. Diagnosed MDR TB patients were screened for depression applying Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) and these patients were referred to Psychiatrist for diagnosis of depression. Total 25 diagnosed patients of MDR TB with mild to moderate depression were selected. HDRS Score and morning blood sample of 5ml were collected to analyze biomarker for depression before intervention. Same test was repeated in 18 patients who completed the study at day 30 and 120 after administering Sertraline (50mg). Data were compiled and analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and paired t - test. Results: The mean decrease in HDRS score from base line at day 30 and 120 of administering Sertraline were 6.22 (±1.26) and 2.72 (±0.67) which were significant (p˂0.001). The mean increase in serum cholesterol at day 30 was 153.94 (±19.31) and at day 120 was 157.83 (±19.36) which were significant (p˂0.001). Rest of Tg, HDLc, LDLc and VLDL cholesterole levels were not increased significantly. Conclusions: As the depression symptoms improved by sertraline. The biomarkers of depression were also increased (within the normal range) from baseline but significant increase was observed in serum cholesterol only.
Lithium use has been associated with dermatological issues, including psoriasis, folliculitis, and acneiform outbreaks. The lithium dosage and the therapeutic range of serum lithium levels are closely correlated with the frequency of cutaneous adverse effects. Lithium-induced acne inversa is a less well-known adverse effect, causing significant morbidity. Acne inversa (hidradenitis suppurativa) is a chronic inflammatory illness of the skin seen in the folds of the skin and face and distinguished by the presence of painful nodules and fistulas, as well as a propensity for tissue fibrosis. We report two cases of bipolar affective disorder who received long-term lithium treatment and experienced acne inversa during treatment, which subsided once the lithium was withdrawn.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
