The innovative formaldehyde removal fibers (PA 6 -g-LCX-PAH) have been developed by grafting polyacryloyl hydrazid (PAH) onto the polyamide molecules with bridging agent of Polyketide amide (LCX). The effects of varied grafting parameters including reaction time, reaction temperature, the ratio of PAH/LCX, and pH value have been discussed in detail to optimizing the grafting conditions. PA 6 -g-LCX-PAH can be easily regenerated after treatment of glacial acetic acid at ambient temperature and the formaldehyde removal rate still reached 79.6% after repeated use for 10 times. The structure and morphology of PA6-g-LCX-PAH were characterized by SEM, DSC and FT-IR spectroscopy. It is concluded that the PA 6 -g-LCX-PAH is a suitable removal agent of high-or mid-concentration formaldehyde in a living or industrial environment. POLYM. ENG. SCI., 00:000-000, FIG. 5. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
