The authors studied the impact and safety of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist therapy in hospitalized diabetes mellitus patients with chronic kidney disease. They found that the use of GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy had better outcomes in patients with glomerular filtration rate (GFR) stages 3 to 5 as compared with GFR stages 1 and 2; for both GFR groups, there were minimal adverse events. This study suggests that the off-label use of GLP-1 receptor agonists for hospitalized DM patients with chronic kidney disease may be useful.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
