A highly sensitive fluorescent turn-on probe specific for methylmercury species as well as inorganic mercury ions has been developed on the basis of mercury ion-promoted hydrolysis of a fluorescein-derived aryl vinyl ether.

Palladium pincer complexes composed of six-membered fused metallacycles have been synthesized directly from 1,3-bis(2-pyridyloxy)benzene. The pincer complexes show remarkably high turnover numbers and frequencies in the Heck reaction.
