This study aimed to consolidate body height, body weight, and body mass index data of the entire young male population from the Municipality of Cetinje in order to estimate trends from 1979 to 1987. The sample of respondents includes 2119 young males divided into nine groups: 183 respondents born in 1961, 361 respondents born in 1962, 300 respondents born in 1963, 162 respondents born in 1964, 155 respondents born in 1965, 258 respondents born in 1966, 218 respondents born in 1967, 234 respondents born in 1968, and 248 respondents born in 1969. The measurement sample includes body height, body weight, and body mass index calculated based on two previous measures. The descriptive statistics were expressed as a mean and standard deviation for each variable, while the analysis of nutrition status was done based on body mass index (underweight, normal weight, pre-obese, obese). The results showed that a secular trend in the observed study period is not visible regarding body height and body weight, while it is observable for the body mass index. Therefore, this study will contribute to complementing knowledge about changes in average body height values of young Montenegrins in the previous 120 years and in that way, more precisely monitor the emergence of a secular trend.
The aim of this research was to deteremine obesity and differences in nutritional status of school children in Central and Southern region in Montenegro. The research involved 189 children divided into two sub-samples: 84 children (7-8 years) from Central region and 105 children (7-8) years from Southern region of Montenegro. Anthropometrics characteristics were evaluated by a battery of 3 variables: body height, body weight, waist circumference. Mentioned variables were used to calculate following anthropometric indexes which gave as informations about obesity: body mass index (BMI), waist to height ratio (WHtR). The difference between the children are tested by a t-test for small indenpendent samples. It's determined that there are no significant differences between children in Central and Southern region of Montenegro in any monitored variables. Also, it was found that 16.4 % of children were obese and those results can help us to aprehend problem of excessive body weight at specified age and find adequate solutions for this problem.

Jaspe izlazi četiri puta godišnje: u januaru, aprilu, julu i oktobru. AbstractJournal of Anthropology of Sport and Physical Education (JASPE) is a scientifi c journal that exists for three years and has so far released 107 scientifi c papers in 7 editions. Papers of lecturers from Faculty for sport and physical education were classifi ed in this paper by the method of content analysis. In last three years they have published 69 papers in total which are classiffi ed in this paper by these areas: anthropology, sports marketing, papers which analyze the content and other papers. The most published papers are from area of anthropology, 35 in total. This research can be useful for further theoretical research, as well as for theoreticians.
Background: Considering that obesity is characterized today as a public health challenge and an epidemic in many countries in the world and that one of the main predictors for obesity is socio-economic status (SES), the aim of this paper was to assess the relationship between the SES of parents/guardians and female adolescent obesity in Montenegro. Methods: A stratified random probability sample method was used, and the number of participants in this study was 596, aged 15.8 ± 0.58, from all three regions in Montenegro. As SES was a factor in this research, specific SES parameters such as household wealth and parental educational level were collected for parent/guardian of each child. The following anthropometric indices were utilized to evaluate nutritional status: body mass index (BMI) and waist to height ratio (WHtR). Results: Regarding nutritional status, it can be said that no statistically significant difference between female adolescents according to the regions of Montenegro was found. Of all the adolescents in the study, 15.4% of them were above the normal nutrition level as measured by BMI, while 12.2% were classified as obese by the WHtR. Furthermore, the study found a significant negative relationship between a mother’s level of education and obesity in female adolescents, with odds ratios of 0.31 (p = 0.035) and 0.19 (p = 0.009) for secondary and high level education, respectively. This suggests that daughters of mothers with higher levels of education are less likely to be obese. Conclusions: In regard to the nutritional status of the respondents in this study, their values fell within the normal range compared to the European average. However, the results regarding the relationship between certain SES characteristics and obesity suggest a similarity to developed countries.
