In this study, the working principle of vortex tubes and the usage in the machining was reviewed with the help of previous literature studies. The effect of vortex tubes on machining operations was evaluated in separated titles and discussed its advantages and disadvantages. Figure A. Vortex tube Purpose: In this study, the usage of vortex tubes in turning, milling, drilling and grinding operations were investigated in separated titles. The effects of vortex tube usage on tool life, surface roughness and cutting forces were evaluated. Thus, the advantageous areas of the usage of vortex tube were summarized. Theory and Methods: The effects of vortex tubes on manufacturing processes were examined under four different titles. The materials, cutting tools and the cutting parameters of the processes done with vortex tube were stated in detail. Results: The effect of vortex tube usage in cutting performance was evaluated separately for each of four machining operations in Discussion and Finding section. Conclusion: When the previous studies investigated, the literature of the usage of vortex tube was concentrated upon turning and milling operations in general.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
