Induction of somatic embryogenesis in sugarcane requires the composition Plant Growth Hormone (PGH) appropriate. Utilizing of PGH (2,4-D and kinetin) is expected to induce sugarcane somatic embryogenesis. The purpose of this study was to obtain the concentration of 2,4-D and kinetin that effective for the multiplication of sugarcane var. NXI 1-3 through somatic embryogenesis. This study consists of four stages: callus induction, callus proliferation, regeneration of shoots and encapsulation. The plant material used is a spindle leaf sugarcane var. NXI 1-3. Callus induction used 2,4-D with different concentration (2 ppm, 3 ppm and 4 ppm). Callus proliferation used 2,4-D with concentration 1 ppm and 2 ppm. Regeneration of shoots used kinetin 0,5 ppm. The results are showed that the optimal induction of embryogenic callus on medium MS + sucrose 30 g / L + CH 300 ppm + 300 ppm PVP + 2,4-D 4 ppm as indicated by the high percentage of explants forming embryogenic callus that is equal to 40% and the respective concentration 2 ppm and 3 ppm is 33,3% and 37,5%. In proliferation stage, the development callus optimal on medium MS + sucrose 30 g / L + CH 300pm + PVP 300 ppm + 2,4-D 2 ppm and formulations for regeneration shoot on medium MS + sucrose 30 g / L + kinetin 0.5 ppm. The result of encapsulation can be shaped 100 sythetic seed.
& Binn. (43,84 mgBE/g), pseudobulb dan daun Bulbophyllum odoratum (Blume) Lindl. (21,91 mgBE/g) dan (18,01 mgBE/g, sedang terendah daun Vanda tricolor Lindl (9,35 mgBE/g). Kandungan flavonoid tertinggi terdapat pada daun Dendrobium linearifolium Teijsm. & Binn. (219,59 mgQE/g) diikuti daun Bulbophyllum odoratum (Blume) Lindl. (132,21 mgQE/g) dan daun Vanda tricolor Lindl. (122,69 mgQE/g) dan terendah batang Dendrobium linearifolium Teijs & Binn (56,26 mgQE/g).
Cyclosorusparasiticus(Linn.) Farwell is one potential medicinal ferns. The plant contains secondary metabolites, such as flavonoids and alkaloids. This study aims to determine the flavonoid and alkanoidofCyclosorusparasiticus (Linn.) Farwell in three plantation areas of Jember Regency. Plant samples were collected from Mount Gumitir coffee plantations, Pine Garahan Village and rubber and cocoa plantations in Tancak in Jember. Samples of stems and leaves were dried at room temperature and then blended to obtain a powder. One gram of powder samples was macerated in 90 ml of methanol for 3x24 hours then was concentrated with an evaporator to obtain a crude extract. The crude extract was tested qualitatively for flavonoids and alkaloids by the Willstätter and Dragendorff methods followed by quantitatively tests with Spectrophotometric. The results showed thatboth flavonoids and alkaloids were found in stem and leavesof Cyclosorusparasiticus (Linn) Farwell growing at three research locations. The flavonoids and alkaloidsin content found in leaveswas higher than those in stem organs. The leaves of Cyclosorusparasiticus (Linn) Farwell in Gumitir contain the highest flavonoids and alkaloidscontentsthan those in Tancak.
Epiphytic orchids and ferns in urban forests simulating a lowland tropical forest ecology were studied. This study aims to provide information about the epiphytes' adaptation to living in a dynamic microclimate of the tree canopy. Five epiphytes from the two taxa (orchids and ferns) were observed in their stomatal structure and chlorophyll contents. The stomatal type, size, and density were analysed with microscopic observation. The chlorophyll content was measured using a spectrophotometer. The orchids developed different mechanisms for water conservation compared to the ferns. Orchis develop smaller sizes and denser stomata to support photosynthesis rate as they had water absorbers and storage organs. On the other hand, ferns tend to avoid drought stress by developing fewer numbers and sparse stomata. The higher chlorophyll content in ferns was for photosynthesis efficiency purposes
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
