A series of new poly(bisma1eimide-diamine)s (3 ac) with crown-ether groups in the main chain were synthesized from bismaleimides (1 a-c) and a diamino-functional dibenzo-18-crown-6 (2). The polymerization occurred in solution through the addition of the NH, groups of 2 to the C = C double bonds of the maleimide rings of 1. The optimum polymerization conditions were established. The polymers 3 were obtained in good yields and fairly high molecular weights (qred = 0,15-0,35 dL/g). The polymeric crown ethers show high capacity for the binding of alkali metal ions and may be used as selective sorbents.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
