The article is devoted to the development of approaches to the improvement and management of the system of physical education of students. It is established that the introduction of changes in the physical training of students requires the search for new criteria for the formation of individual components of the methodological system, its content and means. It is proved that the preservation of physical education as an academic discipline in universities should be considered not as an additional academic burden on the student, but as a means that positively affects the activation of mental activity, the restoration of intellectual and physical performance. A retrospective analysis of the development and formation of the system of physical education of students in the Russian Federation was carried out, which made it possible to identify the main directions of its development based on the identification of individual positive and negative factors that cause changes in the socio-economic and cultural development of the country. It is noted that the preservation of physical education at the university now depends on the competence of the university management, the authority of the heads of physical education departments and the search for new balanced solutions. It is found out that the system of physical training is a conditioned type of physical education system, which is based on ideological, program-normative, scientific methodological and organizational principles that provide physical education of students.
The article is devoted to the systematization of psychological and pedagogical aspects of physical education of students. It is determined that the analysis and generalization of measurements of physical education, methods, principles and approaches used to study the functioning of the methodological system, makes it possible to identify to a certain extent the state of health, physical tness and all other parameters that affect the nal result of educational activities and physical education. It is established that the methodical system of physical education should be considered as a large and complex system containing a signi cant number of components and subsystems that require a certain and stable orderliness and rational management based on the purpose, objectives and content of physical education. In addition, this system should establish optimal connections of the educational process in order to ensure their reasonable and rational functioning and development. From these positions, the main goal of university education is the formation of an integral structure of the student's future activity during his/her studies.
