The purpose of this study was to examine: The effect of discussion and recitation methods on learning achievement, the effect of independent and dependent cognitive styles on learning achievement, the interaction between learning methods and cognitive style on learning achievement, whether learning achievement by using the discussion method with independent cognitive style was higher than the recitation learning method, whether learning achievement using the discussion method with a dependent cognitive style was higher than the recitation method. This research used quantitative research methods, the type of research was quasi-experimental factorial 2x2 with a population of 173 students and the sample was 61 students. The data collection technique used was a test of cognitive style and learning achievement. The analysis technique used two way ANOVA test and t-test. The results of hypothesis testing concluded: There was an influence of discussion learning methods and recitation learning methods on learning achievement, there was an influence of cognitive style on learning achievement, there was an interaction between learning methods and cognitive styles on student learning achievement, learning achievement using the discussion method of students who had independent cognitive style was higher than the dependent, learning achievement using the recitation method of students who had an independent cognitive style was not higher than the independent.
Indonesia is one of the countries with the greatest diversity of plants in the world. Most of the plants in Indonesia can be used as medicinal ingredients. This researcher aims to develop ethnics-based science learning modules that have the feasibility to be used after validation. Identify the types of medicinal plants found in Kali Kali Rejang Village, North Bengkulu Regency, to then be applied in the biodiversity material module. The location of sampling of medicinal plants was carried out in Kali Kali Rejang Village, North Bengkulu Regency, while the module response test was carried out in 71 elementary schools in Bengkulu City. Based on the results of the study found 15 species of medicinal plants in Kali Desa Rejang, North Bengkulu Regency, the most widely used type is Zingiberacea, which is 5 species. The results of the validation of the modules compiled obtained very valid criteria with a value of 91% from the validators and got a very good response with a value of 90.6% in the test response to 22 class V students of 71 State Primary Schools Bengkulu City. Based on these results it can be stated that the module design compiled is suitable to be used as teaching material for elementary school grade V grades on biodiversity material.
Biochemistry is a science that has a broad scope of material regarding the chemical-biological and chemical-physiological processes of living things. Biochemistry material that tends to be abstract with pictures and schematics makes it difficult for students to understand biochemistry. The research purpose is to analyze the students' learning difficulties in studying biochemical material and find solutions. The analysis data were obtained through a short questionnaire using the Google form. The research subjects were 40 students of Department of Science Education at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu who had taken courses related to biochemistry. The data were analyzed using the percentage technique. The results showed that the learning difficulties experienced by students regarding the subject matter of Biochemistry were about biochemical terms, molecular structures, metabolic pathways, and biochemical processes. The students learn biochemistry dominated by group discussion methods and lecturer explanations and assisted by video and image explanations. Learning sources in exploring biochemical material are through the internet (scientific articles, videos, pictures), discussions with lecturers, colleagues, and textbooks. To overcome the problem of student learning difficulties, it is necessary to use simple language, deliver sequential material, develop e-module teaching materials, and link biochemical materials in everyday life.
The teacher student relationship problem is more increasing. Therefore it is necessary to find evidence about how gratitude correlates with teacher student relationship. This study aimed to find out whether there is a relationship between teacher gratitude and the teacherstudent relationship at religion based elementary school. This research was conducted with correlation research design. The participants of this research consist of 65 teachers from a religion based elementary school. The research measurements used two scales, namely the teacher student relationship scale (TSRS) from Pianta and the teachers gratitude scale (TGS) from Watkin. The scales were given to participants then analyzed. The results showed that there is a relationship between gratitude and the teacher student relationship. It also indicated that the low teacher student relationship of the participants could be enhanced by improving the gratitude. The implication of this research implementation are discussed.
