Background: The results of PISA showed that Indonesian students' literacy skills in the field of science are still low. Until now, the cause of the problem is still little information reported. This study was conducted to analyze the language literacy skills of students in biological learning contexts. Methods: the methods used in the research is mixed methods research. This research involved 72 science program students who were selected by purposive sampling. The data were gained by observations, interviews and giving the posttest consisting of 17 questions of multiple-choice based on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) indicator for language literacy in biological learning. Results: That the analysis of language literacy in the context of Biological learning has an excellent literacy with a high category. The research showed that the highest average grade of language literacy was in the integrate and interpret aspects of 75,00. Meanwhile, the lowest average grade in the reflect and evaluate aspects was 57,00. The average overall grade in the language literacy on Biological learning was 70,22. Conclusion: Sustainable literacy activities stimulate higher-order thinking skills, especially in the field of science, because language literacy skills can indirectly affect students' outcomes on scientific skills.
Food is a basic human need for life. Changes in the times encourage people to be more practical, including food affairs, so that nowadays fast food mushrooms spread throughout the country. Fast food is generally an imported product originating from another country so that the halalness of the product must still be tested. Therefore, it is not uncommon for the halal issue of a product to emerge in the country of Indonesia as a Muslim majority country. One of the crucial problems is that food products, especially fast food, are popular. The issue that arises is the presence of pork fat content in fastfood fried chicken circulating in Indonesia is no exception in Tasikmalaya. Therefore, it is necessary to do an analysis to test the truth so that people do not hesitate to consume fast food that is widely sold. One method that can be used to analyze pork fat content in food is the method of Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). This method is a combination of gas chromatography method with mass spectrometry method where the final result of this analysis in the form of mass spectrum of each sample studied will be compared with the WILLEY147 & NIST47 library found in the GCMS postrun analysis software (Janusz, Czarniecki., 1998). The results of this study are differences in physicochemical characteristics of fat contained in fast-food fried chicken circulating in Tasikmalaya City with lard so that it can be notified that fast food fried chicken circulating in Tasikmalaya City does not contain lard.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
